Read these figures as a snapshot, not an official count. Netflix doesn’t publish library sizes per country, trackers count differently, and uNoGS itself says its scrapers can miss titles. JustWatch, for example, showed a different order on the same day, with France and Spain much higher and the UK at about 8,500 titles.
US Netflix vs UK, Canada and Australia
The surprise at the top is geography. Nine of the ten biggest libraries belong to smaller European markets, led by Czechia, Slovakia and Sweden. Thailand, in seventh place, is the only exception. The US comes in 22nd, Canada and Australia share 30th place with 7,234 titles each, and the UK sits 32nd with 7,231.

The spread is narrower than you might expect. All 37 tracked countries fall between about 6,900 and 8,400 titles, and the gap between first place and last place (South Africa, 6,858) is 1,515 titles. A viewer in Czechia gets 897 more titles than a subscriber in the US, and almost all of that difference comes from movies: 5,188 against 4,086. On series, the US is actually ahead, with 3,390 against 3,185.
So the best country for Netflix depends on what you watch. Movie fans gain the most from the top of the table. Series fans should look at South Korea (11th overall, 3,728 series) or Thailand (3,558 series). And in the old UK vs US debate, this snapshot puts the US 245 titles ahead, although JustWatch put the UK at about 8,500 titles on the same day, a reminder of how much the method matters. How to watch Netflix from another country
Netflix picks the catalog based on where your connection appears to come from. A VPN changes that virtual location. Connect to a server in Sweden or Thailand, and Netflix shows you the library as if you were sitting there. You keep paying for your own Netflix subscription as usual: the VPN changes what you can browse, not what you pay Netflix.
Two practical tips straight from Netflix’s help center. First, pair the VPN with a Netflix plan without ads and watch live events with the VPN switched off. Second, Netflix says that when it detects a VPN, it may show only the titles it licenses worldwide, such as Squid Game or Stranger Things. That’s why the choice of VPN matters. The table below shows which VPNs currently work with Netflix according to StreamFix data.
Tested on October 5, 2026 · 7 VPNs, 7 working · residential IP from Singapore · Netflix updates detection continuously, results may change.
⚠️
Streaming service blocking your VPN? Just disconnect and hop onto a different server in the same country. Stick to the ones labeled “streaming” or “optimized” because they’re literally built for this.
Change your Netflix region step by step
Pick a VPN from the table
Choose one that currently works with Netflix and install its app on the device you watch on.
Connect to a country
Select a server in the country whose library you want, for example Czechia for the biggest catalog in this snapshot.
Open Netflix
Sign in with your usual account, and Netflix loads the catalog for your new virtual location.
Search for your title
Look up the show or movie you came for and check its audio and subtitle options before you press play.
Best country for Netflix
It depends on what you’re after. For the biggest raw catalog, Czechia, Slovakia and Sweden lead this snapshot, all above 8,200 titles. For series, South Korea and Thailand stand out. If you came for one specific show, work backward: look the title up on a catalog tracker such as uNoGS, which searches across the national catalogs it follows, then connect to a country that lists it. Switching countries is quick, so you can check two or three libraries in a single evening.
Tip: if Netflix still shows your home catalog after you connect, close the app completely and reopen it.
Ready to switch regions? Here’s the VPN currently topping our Netflix table:
It’s an easy question to overlook, yet it decides whether a bigger catalog is any use to you. According to Netflix’s help center, streaming and download choices, including audio and subtitle options, vary by country. The same title can come with a different set of languages depending on which catalog you open.
In practice, that matters most for dubbed content. If you watch Korean or Spanish series with an English dub at home, that dub may be missing in another country’s catalog, while English subtitles may still be there for many titles. The same goes for viewers who rely on a dub in another language, such as Hindi or Portuguese.
Tip: before you start an episode, open the audio and subtitles menu and check what that country offers. It takes five seconds and saves you from discovering halfway through a pilot that the only soundtrack is one you don’t speak.
Why is Netflix different in other countries?
The short answer is licensing. According to Netflix’s help center, the rights to a single movie or series can belong to several studios or distributors in different regions. Netflix may get the rights in Latin America before it gets them in the US or Canada. And it can’t license a title where nobody is selling the rights, or where another streaming platform holds them exclusively.
Taste plays a part too. Netflix points out that what’s popular in the US may not be popular in the UK, even though both countries speak English. Licensed titles may be available only in some countries or only for a limited time, and they leave when the licensing agreements end. Netflix owns worldwide rights to most of its originals, but even some originals are still missing in some countries.
One show, different answers: Friends
Friends is a good example of how this plays out. According to What’s on Netflix, the sitcom came back to Netflix in all international markets except five: Canada, the UK, Germany, Italy and the United States. In the UK, Canada, Germany and Italy, it’s exclusive to HBO Max. India, South Africa and Japan got it at the end of March 2026.
So if you’re asking which country’s Netflix has Friends, the answer is most countries outside those five. Viewers in the US and the UK can’t stream it in their home catalog.
Want Friends or another title your country doesn’t get? All you need is a VPN with a server in a country where Netflix carries it.
Outside the EU, your catalog follows the country you’re in, not the one where you signed up. Fly from Toronto to Tokyo and the same account opens the Japanese library. Netflix’s help center notes that streaming and download choices vary by country, so some titles you watch at home may be missing while others turn up.
The EU works differently. Within the EU, Netflix provides the same content as your home country for a limited period of time, which helps EU residents on vacation or a short work trip. Once you travel beyond the EU, the selection may change again. If you miss more than your Netflix catalog while away, our guide to watching UK TV from abroad covers British TV and streaming services.
A few places have no Netflix at all. The service is available in over 190 countries and regions, but according to Netflix’s help center it isn’t available in China, Crimea, North Korea, Russia or Syria.
In a uNoGS snapshot taken on October 7, 2026, Czechia has the largest Netflix library with 8,373 titles, followed by Slovakia (8,245) and Sweden (8,232). The US ranks 22nd out of 37 tracked countries. Other trackers count differently, so treat the order as a snapshot rather than an official Netflix figure.
Connect to a VPN server in the country whose catalog you want, then open Netflix and sign in with your own account. Netflix shows the library of your new virtual location, and you keep paying your usual subscription. The table in this article shows which VPNs currently work with Netflix according to StreamFix data. Pick a plan without ads, that is where streaming through a VPN works best.
The uNoGS snapshot from October 7, 2026 counts 7,476 titles in the US: 4,086 movies and 3,390 series. What’s on Netflix, using its own method, counted 7,865 US titles at the end of 2025. Netflix itself doesn’t publish library sizes per country.
Licensing. According to Netflix’s help center, the rights to a title can belong to different studios or distributors in different regions, and sometimes another streaming platform holds them exclusively. Licensed titles may also be available only for a limited time. Even some Netflix originals are missing in a few countries.
In practice, the region follows you: Netflix shows the catalog of the country you’re connecting from, which is why it changes when you travel. Within the EU, you keep your home catalog for a limited time. To browse another country’s library from home, a VPN is the practical route.
Using a VPN is legal in most countries. Netflix decides which titles it shows when it detects a VPN connection, and you keep watching on your own paid Netflix account. StreamFix explains how it rates services in its methodology.
Netflix says that when it detects a VPN, it may show only titles it has worldwide licensing for, such as Squid Game or Stranger Things. If your catalog shrinks to originals, switch to a VPN that currently works with Netflix; the table in this article lists them according to StreamFix data. Also check that you’re on a plan without ads. If Netflix shows a VPN or proxy message instead, see our guide to the Netflix proxy error.
