The best VPN for Netflix in 2026 is NordVPN, with an overall score of 9.6 out of 10 according to StreamFix data. Surfshark (9.4) and ExpressVPN (9.3) complete the top three. As of October 26, 2026, all 7 VPNs that StreamFix reviews are listed as working with Netflix.

The order follows the overall score out of 10 from each StreamFix review, and our VPN rating methodology explains how those scores are built. For Netflix in particular, the VPN table on the Netflix VPN hub lists all seven services as working as of October 26, 2026. Every VPN in the chart is a valid choice. The ranking shows which one scores highest overall, and on the streaming score alone NordVPN and ExpressVPN tie at 9.6.
All three lead the StreamFix ranking for a different reason. Pick the one that matches how you watch.
NordVPN is our pick for most people. It tops the StreamFix ranking at 9.6 overall and shares the highest streaming score, also 9.6. In the StreamFix review it reached 966 Mbps on a local server and 782 Mbps on an international one, far more than any Netflix stream needs. One account covers 10 devices, and there are apps for Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV. For a TV that can’t run a VPN app, NordVPN also offers Smart DNS. The NordVPN review has the full breakdown, including every speed figure.
Surfshark scores 9.4 overall and 9.3 for streaming, and with a 9.7 value score it carries the Best value label from StreamFix. The big selling point is that there’s no device limit, so one subscription covers every phone, laptop and TV in the house. Apps run on Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV and Google TV. Speeds in the StreamFix review hit 921 Mbps on a local server and 733 Mbps on an international one. Surfshark also has the deepest Black Friday discount of the three VPNs on sale. The Surfshark review covers the apps and features in detail.
SurfsharkBest value for moneyExpressVPN ranks third overall at 9.3 but matches NordVPN on streaming with 9.6. In the StreamFix review it reached 938 Mbps on a local server and 773 Mbps on an international one, just behind NordVPN. Its Smart DNS feature, MediaStreamer, is there for TVs without a VPN app, and plans cover up to 14 devices. Choose it if you want streaming results on par with NordVPN and an easy fix for a TV without apps. The ExpressVPN review has the rest of the details.
ExpressVPNGreat for streamingThe rest of the ranking works with Netflix too, according to the StreamFix hub. Each one has a clear strength.
CyberGhost (9.2): labeled Easy to use by StreamFix, with a 45-day money-back guarantee, the longest of the seven.
Private Internet Access (9.1): the biggest network here with 35,000+ servers, plus no limit on devices.
IPVanish (8.9): unlimited devices and 837 Mbps on a local server in the StreamFix review.
Proton VPN (8.8): the best VPN for privacy according to StreamFix, with 10 devices on one account.
Proton VPN does have a free plan, but it covers a single device and doesn’t include streaming. For Netflix you need VPN Plus, and it’s on sale for Black Friday: 75% off the 24-month plan from October 26 to November 30, 2026. The Proton VPN review explains what Plus adds.
ProtonVPNTop-tier securityNetflix travels well: you sign in on your phone, your laptop or the TV in a hotel room. The difference is the selection. Outside the country where you signed up, the shows and movies available to you may change. With a VPN you connect to a server in your home country, and Netflix sees a connection from home. On hotel and airport Wi-Fi, the VPN also encrypts everything you send. Americans abroad can use the same trick for other apps, as our guide to watching US TV abroad shows.
Pick a VPN from the ranking above. NordVPN and Surfshark are the top two.
Install the app on your phone, computer or TV and sign in.
Connect to a server in your home country.
Open Netflix and sign in with your own account. You keep your own subscription; the VPN only changes your virtual location.
Use a plan without ads, because Netflix doesn’t support VPNs on ad-supported plans. For live events, turn the VPN off.
Start with the top pick: 10 devices on one account and apps for Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV.
NordVPNLightning-fast streamingYes, and a few rules make it work better. Netflix’s help center says that with a VPN you may only see shows and movies Netflix has worldwide licensing for, like Squid Game or Stranger Things. That’s why the choice of VPN and server matters. Start with a VPN that works with Netflix according to StreamFix data. If you only see Netflix’s own titles, switch to another server or another VPN from the ranking.
Two more rules come straight from Netflix: VPNs aren’t supported on ad-supported plans or for live events. So go for a plan without ads, and switch the VPN off before a live event starts.
Where you travel matters too. If your account is from an EU country, Netflix gives you the same content as at home for a limited time while you’re inside the European Union. Outside the EU, your choices may be different. To see which country Netflix detects, open fast.com, click “Show more info” once the speed check stops and look at the country next to “Client.”
Why the selection differs from country to country is explained in our article on the Netflix library by country.
Every VPN in the ranking works with Netflix, so the right pick depends on your screens and your household.
Netflix recommends 15 Mbps for 4K and 5 Mbps for Full HD. In StreamFix reviews, all seven VPNs reach more than 700 Mbps even on an international server, and the top three hit between 921 and 966 Mbps locally. Speed is rarely the deciding factor. Pick on features instead.
NordVPN, Surfshark, ExpressVPN, Private Internet Access, IPVanish and Proton VPN all have apps for Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV, and Surfshark adds Google TV. If your TV can’t run a VPN app, NordVPN offers Smart DNS and ExpressVPN has MediaStreamer. Our guide to a VPN on a smart TV walks through Samsung, LG and Android TV.
Surfshark, Private Internet Access and IPVanish have no device limit. NordVPN and Proton VPN allow 10 devices, ExpressVPN up to 14 depending on the plan, and CyberGhost 7. For a family with several TVs, an unlimited plan is the simple answer. Can’t decide between the top two? Our NordVPN vs Surfshark comparison puts them side by side.
Not really. Proton VPN Free covers one device and doesn’t include streaming, which only VPN Plus unlocks. A paid VPN comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and CyberGhost offers 45 days, so you can try it with Netflix and get your money back if it doesn’t suit you. New to all this? Start with what a VPN does for streaming.
