In short
- Only partly. Of the four big US services, HBO Max and Paramount+ have European versions; Peacock and the standalone Hulu don’t.
- Hulu is a brand inside Disney+ outside the US since October 8, 2025, and hulu.com redirected to Disney+ from Europe on October 28, 2026.
- Peacock streams only on devices physically in the US, and Paramount+ runs in seven European countries.
- A VPN from our table with a US server brings back your own US account. You keep paying for your subscriptions.
You’re in Lisbon for a semester or in Berlin for work, you open Hulu, and you land on Disney+. That’s the short version of how US streaming services in Europe behave: what you pay for at home isn’t what you get here.
The quick answer, as of October 28, 2026: Hulu doesn’t run as a standalone service in Europe, and hulu.com sends you to Disney+. Peacock streams only on devices physically in the US. HBO Max is available in most of Europe and Paramount+ in seven European countries, but both show a library that depends on where you are.
If you already pay for a US subscription, there’s a simple way back to it. A VPN from our table with a server in the US gives you a US connection, so your own account plays the way it does on your couch at home.
Do US streaming services work in Europe?
Here’s where each service stands for a viewer in Europe, based on the services’ own pages and a StreamFix check on October 28, 2026.
Service | In Europe |
|---|---|
Hulu | Only as a tile in Disney+ |
Peacock | Not available |
HBO Max | Yes, local library |
Paramount+ | 7 countries, local library |
The pattern is easy to read. Peacock and the standalone Hulu stay inside the US. HBO Max and Paramount+ launched European versions with their own libraries, and Paramount+ covers only part of the continent. In every case, your location decides what plays, which is why a US subscription stops behaving like it does at home once you land in Europe.
Netflix isn’t on this list on purpose. Our Netflix library by country ranking covers it separately.
How to watch Hulu in Europe with a VPN
Streaming services read your location from your IP address. A European address gets you redirected (Hulu), blocked (Peacock) or a local library (HBO Max). A VPN from the table connects you through a server in the US, so the service sees a US address and opens your US account with its US lineup, just like at home. That’s how you watch Hulu abroad, and the same steps work for your other US subscriptions.

Stream your US account in five steps
Pick a VPN from the table above and install it on your laptop, phone, tablet or streaming device.
Connect to a server in the United States.
Open Hulu, Peacock, HBO Max or Paramount+ and sign in to your own US account.
Choose a show and press play. If it doesn’t load, switch to another US server.
Keep your subscription active. The VPN changes only your virtual location. You keep paying for your subscription as usual.
Not sure where to start? Here’s what to watch on Hulu right now.

Is Hulu available in Europe?
Yes and no. In a press release dated October 2, 2025, Disney announced that Hulu would become the global general entertainment brand on Disney+ beginning October 8, 2025, replacing Star in international markets. Looking back on the year, Disney said it had introduced the Hulu brand internationally for the first time. So outside the US, Hulu shows up as a brand inside Disney+.
The standalone service is a different story. When StreamFix opened hulu.com from Europe on October 28, 2026, the site redirected to Disney+. Your US Hulu account, the one you pay for in the US, can’t be reached that way without a US IP address.
Disney+ tile or your US account?
These are two separate things. The Hulu tile sits inside a Disney+ subscription you take out in Europe, and our Disney+ guide covers that service. Your US Hulu account is the one you signed up for at home, and from Europe it opens only through a US connection.
Connect a VPN from the table to a US server, and you sign in to that account and watch your own Hulu as if you’d never left. If you’re following a new series, our page on Phony on Hulu has the release date and episodes, and our Hulu streaming guide has more on the service itself.
Can I watch Peacock in Europe?
Not officially. Open Peacock from Europe and you get a page titled “Unavailable In Your Region.” For US customers, it says: “Your device must physically be located in the US to stream.” For everyone else, it adds: “Peacock is not yet available in your territory.” From Europe, even Peacock’s help pages and terms redirect to that same notice.
So a US Peacock subscription goes quiet the moment you land in Europe. Connect a VPN from the table to a server in the US, sign in, and Peacock sees a US connection again. Our Peacock streaming guide covers the service in more detail.
Is HBO Max available in Europe?
Yes, in most of it. The HBO Max help center lists the US and a long list of European countries, among them Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The last big markets arrived in 2026. On January 13, 2026, HBO Max launched in Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Israel and Greece. On March 26, 2026, it went live in the UK and Ireland, which Warner Bros. Discovery said completed the service’s European rollout.
Why your US library looks different abroad
Traveling with HBO Max works, just not the way most Americans expect. According to the help center, you can stream when you travel to a country where HBO Max is available, and your home country is the one where you signed up. What’s available changes based on your physical location, so some titles on your Continue Watching and My List may not play in another country. In a country without HBO Max, you can’t stream at all, but your downloads still play.
That’s the problem for a US subscriber in Paris or Rome: you pay for the US version and see the French or Italian one. A VPN from the table with a US server brings back the US library you know from home. For next month’s releases, see new on HBO Max in November 2026, and our HBO Max streaming guide has more on the service.

Moving a subscription to a European country
The HBO Max help center says that if you have an active subscription from another country, you need to cancel it and, once the billing period ends, update with a payment method issued in the country where you want to start your new subscription.
Is Paramount Plus available in Europe?
Only in part of it. Paramount+ lists seven European regions: Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Republic of Ireland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Paramount says it will not launch in a long list of others, including the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden. In those markets, its content is available on SkyShowtime.
Even where Paramount+ exists, the lineup depends on the region. Paramount puts it plainly: “Content varies by region and subject to change.” Our Paramount Plus guide has more on the service.
Want all your US subscriptions back at once? A VPN from the table with a US server lets you sign in to Hulu, Peacock, HBO Max and Paramount+ with your own US accounts wherever you are in Europe.

Why EU portability rules don’t cover a US account
Plenty of travelers expect EU rules to carry their shows across borders. They do, but only for some subscriptions. According to Your Europe, the EU’s official portal, when you travel to another EU country you have the right to access your paid online content services the same way you would at home. Here, EU country means the 27 member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
What matters is residence. The rules are tied to your EU country of residence, and a provider may check it in up to two ways, for example through your payment details. Free services are covered only if the provider chooses to include them. So the rule protects, say, a German HBO Max subscription on vacation in Spain. A US account isn’t a subscription from your EU country of residence, so you can’t count on the rule for it.
For an American in Europe, the practical route is the one above: a US server and your own US account. Our page on how to watch US TV from anywhere covers the rest of American streaming.

Streaming not working abroad? What to do
Connected to a US server and still seeing an error? Work through this list:
Check that the VPN is connected to a server in the United States, not a nearby country.
Switch to another US server in the VPN app and reload.
Clear your browser cookies or open a private window, then sign in again.
In the app on a phone or TV, sign out, close the app and sign back in with the VPN connected.
On HBO Max, shows you downloaded before the trip still play, even in a country without HBO Max.

Before you fly to Europe
Keep your US subscriptions active, download a few HBO Max episodes before you leave, and install a VPN from the table. Once you land, connect to a US server and watch your US streaming services in Europe the way you do at home.
