Netflix Price by Country 2026: The Cheapest and Most Expensive of 242

A Standard Netflix plan costs $2.89 a month in Pakistan and $27.44 in Switzerland. Same 1080p picture on two screens at once, yet the Swiss price is 9.5 times higher. We compared the Netflix price by country for 242 countries and territories, and the United States lands near the top: at $19.99, only six places charge more for Standard.

Below you will find the cheapest and most expensive countries, what each US plan costs before sales tax, a ranking of every market and what Netflix itself says about why prices differ. We also answer the question many people search next: can you pay another country’s price? And what is a VPN actually good for when you travel?

Netflix price by country: cheapest and most expensive in 2026

We compare the Standard plan because it is the one plan every country has. Prices come from World Price Index as of October 6, 2026, which reads them from Netflix’s regional help pages. We checked a sample of 28 countries directly on help.netflix.com and every price matched to the cent. Local prices are converted to US dollars at Czech National Bank rates of September 30, 2026.

Pakistan is the cheapest at 800 PKR, followed by Egypt (190 EGP) and Nigeria (6,500 NGN). The group sharing sixth place at a flat 5.99 USD is mostly Caribbean and South American: Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Venezuela. Looking at the list, the cheap end is dominated by countries with lower incomes and weaker currencies. That is our observation from the data, not a pricing rule Netflix has published.

The top of the ranking is almost entirely European. Switzerland and Liechtenstein share first place at 22.90 CHF, then come Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands at 149 DKK, and Ireland at 18.99 EUR ($21.56). The United States ranks 225th of 242 counting from the cheapest, tied with Puerto Rico, Guam and other territories billed at 19.99 USD. Next door, Canada charges 18.99 CAD ($13.39) and Mexico 269 MXN ($14.86). The United Kingdom sits at 13.99 GBP, or $18.59.

How much does Netflix cost in the United States?

Netflix’s US help page lists three plans in October 2026. Standard with ads costs $8.99 a month, Standard $19.99 and Premium $26.99. The old Basic plan has been discontinued, so the ad-supported tier is now the only way in below $19.99.

Both Standard plans stream on 2 devices at a time in 1080p. Premium raises that to 4 devices, 4K with HDR and Netflix spatial audio, and allows downloads on 6 devices. The ad-free Standard plan lets you add 1 extra member who doesn’t live with you, and Premium up to 2. An extra member slot costs $7.99 a month with ads or $9.99 without, and the extra member must be in the same country where the account owner signed up.

One detail catches people out: US prices are shown before tax. Sales tax is added on top based on your billing ZIP code, so your statement can be higher than the price on the plan page.

Netflix on the road and a VPN

A VPN will not make Netflix cheaper. Your subscription stays in your home country and currency. Where it helps is travel. Netflix shows the library of the country you are in, so on a trip to Japan or Brazil your watchlist can look very different. A VPN changes your virtual location, so you can keep watching the US library you know from home. On hotel and airport Wi-Fi it also encrypts your connection. If you are curious, you can browse other countries’ libraries too. According to Netflix’s help center, when it detects a VPN it may show only titles licensed worldwide, which is why the choice of VPN matters. The table shows which ones work with Netflix according to StreamFix data.

How to watch your US Netflix abroad

1. Pick a VPN from the table

Choose a service that currently works with Netflix according to StreamFix data.

2. Install the app

Download it on the phone, laptop or TV you watch Netflix on, ideally before you leave.

3. Connect to a US server

Open the app and choose the United States, or any other country whose library you want.

4. Open Netflix and sign in

Watch with your own account. You keep paying your usual plan in your usual currency.

Tip: if you plan to watch through a VPN, choose an ad-free plan such as Standard or Premium. This is the VPN that currently leads our Netflix ranking:

Netflix prices in every country (table)

The full ranking lists all 242 countries and territories from cheapest to most expensive. It shows the Standard plan in the local billing currency next to the US dollar conversion, with the United States in bold.

Why the Netflix price differs by country

Netflix does not publish a formula. Its help center says plans and prices may change as it improves the service and adds shows and movies, and also in response to “local market changes, such as changes to local taxes or inflation.” In its annual report for 2025, the company states that the price of its plans varies by country and by plan features. As of December 31, 2025, paid plans ranged from the equivalent of $1 to $37 a month.

Prices also move often. In its letter to shareholders of July 16, 2026, Netflix said its price changes in the first half of 2026, in markets like the US, Mexico and Spain, had gone well. Once a price change is announced, the new prices apply to everyone, and Netflix emails you one month before the billing date on which your price goes up.

The plan lineup differs as well. Standard with ads exists in only 26 of the 242 markets in our data. Canada, the UK, Germany, Japan and Brazil have it; Poland, Austria and Slovakia do not, so their entry plan is Basic. India, Pakistan, Nigeria and Kenya offer a cheap Mobile plan for one phone or tablet in 480p. In India it costs 149 INR.

Taxes and billing currency

In countries that collect VAT or GST, Netflix includes the tax in the advertised price unless it says otherwise. We confirmed this for Czechia and Germany. The US works the other way round, with sales tax added on top depending on your ZIP code. Keep that in mind when you compare $19.99 with European prices, which already include VAT.

Currency matters too. Of the 242 markets, 140 are billed in US dollars, often instead of the local currency, and 52 in euros. That explains the long blocks of identical prices in the table: 79 markets, most of them in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, pay a flat 7.99 USD for Standard, and Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia pay 7.99 EUR.

Can I subscribe to Netflix in another country?

Your account’s country is the country where you signed up. According to Netflix, it can’t be changed unless you move. When you relocate, you cancel your membership and sign up again while physically in the new country. Until then, you keep paying the price and currency of the country where you registered. Netflix also notes that pricing, billing currency and payment methods vary by country.

So the price table tells you what people in each market pay, while your own bill follows your home country. What travel changes is the library. When you travel within the EU, Netflix shows the same content as at home for a limited time. Outside the EU you see the local library, and a VPN from the table takes you back to the one you know.

The bottom line on Netflix prices

At $19.99 a month for Standard, US subscribers pay more than almost anyone else. Make that subscription count on the road too: with a VPN from the table, your own library travels with you, while your plan and price stay exactly as they are.
