Four years have passed, Assane Diop is still in prison, and someone signing the name “Lupin” is cleaning out museums. Lupin season 4, which Netflix officially calls Part 4, lands on Netflix on Friday, October 23, 2026, and all eight episodes drop at once.
If a week feels too long, there is good news: Netflix France has already posted the first episode on YouTube. Below you will find the expected release time in your time zone, the full cast, a spoiler-light rundown of the plot and how to keep your usual Netflix if the premiere catches you away from home.
Lupin season 4 release date and time
The date is locked in. Netflix confirmed October 23, 2026 on the show’s title page (“Part 4 Coming October 23”), on Tudum and in the June announcement Deadline reported on. The hour is a different story, because Netflix has not published one for Part 4.
What we do know is when Part 1 went live. On January 8, 2021, it appeared at 8 a.m. UTC, which was midnight Pacific time. Netflix usually starts its big releases at midnight Pacific, so that slot is the safest bet for October 23. Here is what it would mean where you are:
Where you are | When to expect Part 4 |
|---|
Los Angeles (PT) | 12 a.m. PT, October 23 |
New York (ET) | 3 a.m. ET, October 23 |
Toronto (ET) | 3 a.m. ET, October 23 |
London and Dublin | 8 a.m., October 23 |
Sydney (AEDT) | 6 p.m. AEDT, October 23 |
These times follow the Part 1 pattern. Netflix has not confirmed them yet (as of October 15, 2026). What is confirmed is the release model: no weekly wait. All eight episodes arrive together, so the whole thing fits into one long weekend if your sleep schedule allows it.
Can you watch the first episode free on YouTube?
Yes. On October 15, 2026, Netflix France, the streamer’s French YouTube channel, uploaded the first episode of Part 4 as “LUPIN PARTIE 4 | Le Premier Épisode En Exclu.” The video runs 34 minutes, and the description bills it as an exclusive: “Le premier épisode de la partie 4 de LUPIN en exclusivité.”
According to YouTube, the video is available in the US, the UK, Ireland, Canada and Australia. The other seven episodes stay on Netflix and arrive on October 23.
How many episodes are in season 4?
Eight, the biggest batch the show has had so far. Tudum puts it plainly: “All eight episodes of the season come out on Oct. 23.” Here is how that compares with the earlier parts:
Part | Premiere and episodes |
|---|
Part 1 | January 8, 2021, 5 episodes |
Part 2 | 2021, 5 episodes |
Part 3 | October 5, 2023, 7 episodes |
Part 4 | October 23, 2026, 8 episodes |
Fans have waited a while. Netflix announced Part 4 on May 12, 2025, with a video saying the show was in production with Omar Sy. The premiere date and poster followed in June 2026, and the official trailer dropped on September 14, 2026. Three years separate Part 3 and Part 4, so one extra episode compared with last time feels like a fair trade.
What is Part 4 about?
The official synopsis on Tudum picks up four years after the end of Part 3. Assane is still behind bars and has no interest in playing Lupin anymore. He wants to serve his sentence and keep a promise to his son: a trip together to visit family in Senegal.
Then someone signing as “Lupin” announces simultaneous robberies at several museums. Security gets tighter, and the heists succeed anyway. Every clue points to Assane. A camera even catches him inside one of the museums during a robbery in which Captain Belkacem is seriously injured. To prove his innocence and unmask the copycat, Assane has to break out and become Lupin one more time.
The show has always drawn on Maurice Leblanc’s novels about the gentleman thief Arsène Lupin. This time the name is turned against Assane, which flips the whole setup: he has to catch someone who is wearing his own mask.
How did Part 3 end? (spoilers)
Skip this if you have not finished Part 3. Earlier in that part, a hitman kidnapped Assane’s son Raoul instead of Assane. By the finale, Assane concludes that the only way to give his family and his best friend a calm, safe life is to sacrifice himself, so he turns himself in to the police.
Part 3 ends with Assane in a cell. Small consolation: he has a complete set of the Arsène Lupin books to keep him company.
Who’s back in the cast, and who’s new?
Omar Sy returns as Assane Diop, and this time he also runs the show alongside Louis Leterrier. Most of the familiar faces are back:
Omar Sy as Assane Diop
Ludivine Sagnier as Claire, Assane’s former partner and Raoul’s mother
Antoine Gouy as Benjamin Ferel, Assane’s best friend
Soufiane Guerrab as Inspector Youssef Guédira
Shirine Boutella as Captain Sofia Belkacem
Two new names join the cast: Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard. Netflix has not revealed who they play (as of October 15, 2026).
Behind the camera, the series was created by George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan. Part 4 is directed by Edouard Salier, Everardo Gout and Hugo Gélin, and Gaumont produces it with Carrousel Studios.
How big a hit is the show?
Lupin is one of the biggest non-English shows Netflix has ever had, and the official numbers back that up. On Netflix’s all-time list of the most popular non-English series, Part 1 sits at No. 5 with 99.5 million views in its first 91 days, and Part 2 is No. 9 with 68.4 million. Part 3 opened at No. 1 in the global weekly Top 10 for non-English shows with 11.6 million views. Netflix also tags the series as a Golden Globe nominee.
Where to watch Lupin from abroad or while traveling
Lupin is a Netflix original, and according to JustWatch it streams on Netflix in the US, the UK, Ireland, Canada and Australia. At home, it is simple: open the app on October 23 and press play. Everything else about the service is in our Netflix streaming guide.
It gets trickier when the premiere finds you on a work trip or a vacation. Netflix shows you the library and the audio and subtitle options of the country you are in, not the one where you pay. Your watchlist and your usual language setup can look different overnight. A VPN from our table fixes that: connect to a server in your home country and Netflix loads the version you know. You keep paying for your own subscription, the VPN does not replace it. The ranking is based on StreamFix data, and our VPN ranking methodology explains how it is built.
Dubbing, audio and subtitles: what changes by country
Lupin is a French-language series, and the extra audio tracks and subtitles you get depend on your Netflix country. On Netflix in Czechia, for example, Parts 1 to 3 come with the French original plus English and German audio, among other tracks, and Czech subtitles. Which tracks Part 4 will carry on day one has not been confirmed yet.
If you have ever opened a show abroad and found your language missing, our explainer on why a Netflix language is not available walks you through it. And if you want to see how much the catalog itself shifts from one border to the next, read how the Netflix library differs by country.
Is season 4 the final season? Will there be a Part 5?
Netflix has not said either way. As of October 15, 2026, there is no announcement of a Part 5, and nothing from Netflix says Part 4 wraps up the series. Anything claiming otherwise is guesswork for now.

So: put Friday, October 23 in your calendar, watch the free first episode on YouTube if you cannot resist, and save the other seven for the weekend. If you will be away from home that day, set up a VPN before you leave so the premiere does not turn into a hunt for the right settings.
