Night City has a new crew. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the anime’s second season, is a standalone story, and it lands exclusively on Netflix on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Ten episodes, a fresh group of hired guns, an all-new voice cast and a reimagined animation style, all set in the city from the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Most fans search for it as Edgerunners season 2, though it tells a brand-new story with new faces.
Here’s when it should go live in your time zone, who the new characters are, what we know about the music and the English dub, and how to stream your usual Netflix if October 20 finds you far from home.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 release date and time
The date is locked in: Tuesday, October 20, 2026, on Netflix only. Netflix Tudum, CD PROJEKT RED and the official Cyberpunk site all say the same thing. The hour is a different story, because Netflix hasn’t announced it yet.
What we do have is a solid precedent. Season 1 went live on September 13, 2022, at 07:00 UTC, which was 3 a.m. ET. If Netflix keeps that slot, this is when the new episodes should appear:
Where you are | When to expect Edgerunners 2 |
|---|
New York (ET) | 3 a.m., Tuesday, October 20 |
Toronto (ET) | 3 a.m., Tuesday, October 20 |
Los Angeles (PT) | 12 a.m. (midnight), Tuesday, October 20 |
London | 8 a.m., Tuesday, October 20 |
Dublin | 8 a.m., Tuesday, October 20 |
Sydney (AEDT) | 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 20 |
These times are based on season 1. The same slot is the best bet this time too, but Netflix hasn’t confirmed it, so treat the table as a strong hint rather than a promise. West Coast fans get the easy deal: if the pattern holds, it drops right at midnight.
How many episodes, and do they all drop at once?
The new series has 10 episodes, the same count as season 1, whose episodes ran about 25 minutes each. Netflix hasn’t said yet whether all episodes will be released at once (as of October 15, 2026). Episode runtimes for the new series haven’t been announced either.
What is the new story about?
Same city, different people. The official synopsis follows two men on very different paths. Weak is a washed-up Night City legend who now has to live without chrome, the cybernetic implants that run through everyday life in Night City. He’s looking for some kind of purpose in a world that has moved on without him. D, a dangerous nomad, sets out on a path of revenge that leads him toward corporate secrets nobody was ever supposed to find.
CD PROJEKT RED pitches it as a story about family, obsession and legacy. Netflix Tudum calls it a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. That’s a lot of weight for ten episodes, and nobody who watched the first series will expect a gentle ride.
Edgerunners 2 cast and characters
The official site introduces five main characters. Japanese voices are listed where the site names them.
Weak Kingsley: once known as “King,” a veteran edgerunner who was at the top of his game and now lives in the shadow of his former glory. Japanese voice: Kentaro Tone.
D: a Snake Nation netrunner with sharp technical skills, hunting the killer who wiped out his clan. Japanese voice: Koki Uchiyama.
Roman Carax: a young film buff chasing real stories in a city that traded cinema for braindance. Japanese voice: Momoka Terasawa.
Talia Yang: raised in corporate towers, hardened by the Maelstrom gang and fiercely independent. Japanese voice: Akari Kito.
Avida: a former jazz singer and Weak’s old flame, now married to a Kang Tao executive.
Is it a sequel, and does David come back?
Spoiler warning for season 1. If you haven’t finished the first series, skip to the next section.
Netflix answered the David question in its very first teaser, which opens with one line: “David is dead. But Night City lives on.” So no, he isn’t coming back. As for Lucy or anyone else from season 1, nothing has been announced. Netflix and CD PROJEKT RED both describe a fresh group of hired guns with an all-new voice cast, and they sell the series as a standalone story rather than a direct continuation.

How does it connect to the game?
The series comes “from the world of Cyberpunk 2077,” so you’re back in the same Night City, and the character bios already mention the Maelstrom gang and Kang Tao. Where it sits on the game’s timeline is another matter: the official sources don’t say. Anyone claiming to know before the premiere is guessing.
How big was season 1?
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners arrived on Netflix on September 13, 2022, with 10 episodes of about 25 minutes. Netflix’s Czech title page still carries an Annie Award nomination badge, and the new trailer leans on the hype with its own tagline: “The Anime of the Year returns.” That’s Netflix marketing, not an award, but it tells you how much the streamer is betting on this one.
Who is behind it?
Studio TRIGGER animates the series in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED. Kai Ikarashi directs, and Bartosz Sztybor of CD PROJEKT RED is the showrunner; the official site points out that he’s a Hugo Award winner. Sztybor wrote the story with Masahiko Otsuka, Ichigo Kanno handles character designs, and Saya Elder is the executive producer.
Theme songs, trailers and the first screening
According to Anime News Network, the opening theme is “10:15 Saturday Night” by The Cure and the ending theme is “Watson” by Petite Meller. If you’re hunting for the trailer song, the track behind the second teaser is Rico Nasty’s “You Can’t Run From Me,” which CD PROJEKT RED says was written for the show.
Netflix has been building up to the premiere for more than a year. The first teaser dropped on July 5, 2025, teaser #2 followed on June 29, 2026, teaser #3 revealed the premiere date on August 20, 2026, and the official trailer arrived on October 14, 2026. A lucky crowd got an early look: according to Anime News Network, the first episode screened with its English dub at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Where to watch Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 from abroad
The answer is short: only on Netflix, and our Netflix streaming guide covers where the service is available. The premiere is global, so a VPN won’t get you the show any earlier. Where it does help is travel. Netflix shows you the library and the audio and subtitle options of the country you’re in, not the country where you pay.
So if October 20 catches you in a hotel abroad, a VPN for streaming from our table connects you to a server back home and you watch your usual Netflix with your own subscription. Nothing about your plan changes, and you keep paying for it as usual. US viewers on the road can also check our guide to watching US streaming services from anywhere.
English dub cast, audio and subtitles
Yes, there’s an English dub. According to Anime News Network, Clancy Brown voices Weak Kingsley, Nazeeh Tarsha plays D (CD PROJEKT RED confirms him too), Kimoy Lee is Talia Yang and Valeria Rodriguez is Roman Carax. Anime Expo audiences got to hear the dub on the first episode in July.
The full list of audio tracks and subtitles for the new series isn’t public yet. Season 1 shows how much it varies by country: on Czech Netflix it has audio in Czech, German, English, Japanese (the original) and Polish, with subtitles in those languages plus Ukrainian. If the new series follows the same pattern, the options abroad may not match the ones you have at home. Our guide to Netflix audio and subtitle languages abroad explains why and what to do about it.
Ready for October 20?
Put Tuesday, October 20, in your calendar and check Netflix at the time listed for your city in the table above. Traveling that week? Set up your VPN before you leave, while you’re still on a stable home connection, and release day abroad will feel just like watching from your own couch.
