Deadline reports that the documentary premieres globally, so the date is the same everywhere and only the clock changes. Clocks in the UK and Ireland go back on October 25, which is why London and Dublin get it at 7 a.m. On the West Coast, you can press play the moment Monday night turns into Tuesday. In Sydney, it arrives in the early evening.

According to Netflix, the series follows Perry’s path from a young comic to Chandler, his lifelong struggle with addiction and the way he later spoke publicly about it to help others. It’s directed by Emmy winner Mary Robertson, who also directed Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV. Her own description of Perry is warm and direct: “Matthew Perry was one of the comedic geniuses of our time.”
Netflix has also named the people interviewed. Besides Mia Perry Bowick, a psychotherapist, there’s actor Kevin Pollak, a longtime friend and colleague who appeared with Perry in The Whole Nine Yards. Director Jonathan Lynn, known for Clue and My Cousin Vinny, worked with him as well. Comedian Nate Torrence acted alongside him in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Warren Littlefield was president of NBC Entertainment in the 1990s and approved the Friends pilot. Mary McNamara writes about culture for the Los Angeles Times, and E. Martin Estrada is a former federal prosecutor. Friends and collaborators fill out the list, among them Roger Castillo, David Pressman and Marjorie Harris Newman.
One detail fans will notice: Netflix’s Tudum doesn’t list any of Perry’s Friends castmates among the participants.
The name is a nod to the way Friends episodes are titled, as in “The One Where…” Put together, it reads like one more episode, this time written about the actor himself.

Matthew Perry played Chandler Bing on Friends from 1994 to 2004, across ten seasons and 236 episodes. In 2022 he published a memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, with Flatiron Books. The Matthew Perry Foundation, which bears his name, is dedicated to challenging the stigma surrounding addiction.
Perry died on October 28, 2023, in Los Angeles, at 54. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled his death an accident caused by the acute effects of ketamine. According to the US Department of Justice, all five defendants in the case connected to his death have been sentenced, the last on May 27, 2026.
For fans who grew up with Chandler, the documentary is a chance to hear about Perry from the people who knew him best, on the eve of that anniversary.
