Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31 this year, so you get a full movie night. For this guide to Halloween movies 2026 we picked 9 titles on Netflix in the US and UK, plus 22 more on Shudder, Hulu, Peacock, Prime Video, Tubi, Disney+, Paramount+ and Sky Cinema, and every pick comes with where to stream it.
The headliner is Below. The creature series was the No. 1 show on Netflix in both the US and the UK for two weeks in a row, Oct. 5 to 11 and Oct. 12 to 18.
The catch: Netflix horror is not the same everywhere. Corpse Bride was No. 6 on Netflix’s global movies chart for Oct. 12 to 18 and No. 1 in Mexico that week, yet Netflix’s Czech page says it isn’t available in Czechia. A global ranking doesn’t tell you whether a title streams in your country. Travel far enough and your app shows someone else’s lineup.
Halloween movies 2026: what’s on Netflix right now
These are the horror picks we can confirm for Netflix in the US or the UK. Older licensed classics vary too much by country to promise, so we list only what Netflix itself confirms.
Title | Why and when |
|---|
Below | No. 1 show in the US and UK, Oct. 12 to 18 |
Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story | US No. 5, UK No. 2, Sep. 28 to Oct. 4 |
Haunted Hotel, season 2 | Ghost sitcom, out since Fri, Oct. 9 |
Is It Cake? Halloween, season 2 | Family bake-off, out since Fri, Oct. 9 |
Within | UK: No. 3 movie, Oct. 12 to 18 |
Day of the Dead: Ofrenda | Music special, Tue, Oct. 27 |
Balaraw: Blood Island | Filipino horror series, Thu, Oct. 29 |
Obsess | Kuwaiti horror drama, Fri, Oct. 30 |
Dead-End Job | Korean horror series, Fri, Oct. 30 |
Status as of October 26, 2026, from the Netflix Top 10 for the US and UK (latest published week Oct. 12 to 18) and the About Netflix release schedule. A Top 10 place is a past week, not a promise for Halloween night. Want the full picture? See what people are watching most on Netflix right now.
How to watch your home Netflix from another country
Netflix shows the lineup of the country you’re in, not the one where you pay. Spend Halloween in Tokyo, Zurich or Dubai and your app switches to the local lineup. A VPN from our table lets you connect to a server back home, so Netflix sees you in the US or the UK again. You keep paying for your own plan.
If you live in the EU, portability rules keep your home lineup for a limited time while you travel within the EU. The VPN matters once you leave the EU or stay abroad for longer.
Netflix says that over a VPN or proxy it shows only titles with global rights, so your choice matters. Pick a VPN from the table that, according to StreamFix data, currently works with Netflix. Our guide to the Netflix proxy error explains what to do if a title won’t play.
New horror movies and series streaming (2025 and 2026)
Netflix’s newest scares this October are series, not movies. Two stand out, and three more land right before Halloween.
Below
A mysterious sea creature starts attacking a coastal town, and a fisherman fights to protect his family and a way of life that is slowly disappearing. Netflix lists it as a limited series, so you can finish it in a weekend. Our tip if you want one show for Halloween night.
Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story
Trapped in a cruel Victorian household, Lizzie Borden kills her parents in an ax murder that shocks the country. It ranked No. 5 among shows in the US and No. 2 in the UK for the week of Sep. 28 to Oct. 4. This one is grim, not fun, so skip it for a party.
Balaraw, Obsess and Dead-End Job: out Oct. 29 and 30
Balaraw: Blood Island (Thu, Oct. 29) follows a woman whose search for her missing mother leads to a sinister island. Obsess (Fri, Oct. 30) brings a man back to Kuwait after his father’s death, straight into an obsessive relationship that seems cursed. Dead-End Job, also Fri, Oct. 30, is a Korean series about a young man in debt who takes well paid gigs from a mysterious agency, until the work turns into a nightmare.

Best horror movies of all time to stream
For classics, look beyond Netflix this month. In the US, Shudder added The Haunting (1963) on October 1 as part of its Season of Screams lineup, and all four Psycho films, from Psycho to Psycho IV: The Beginning, joined Shudder on September 1. Hulu added Hereditary (2018) on October 3.
In the UK, Sky Cinema leads its Halloween picks with classics such as The Shining (1980) and The Exorcist (1973). On Netflix UK, Within (2016) was the No. 3 movie for Oct. 12 to 18: a family moves into a new house, and their teenage daughter Hannah starts noticing strange things in the house.
Our take: The Haunting for a quiet night with the lights off, Hereditary if your group likes being genuinely upset.
Family Halloween movies that aren’t too scary
Cake or fake? In Is It Cake? Halloween season 2, skilled bakers make hyperrealistic Halloween cakes. It was the No. 7 show in the US for Oct. 12 to 18, and it is our easiest pick for kids on Netflix.
On Disney+, Under Wraps (1997) has been streaming since October 9, and Disney’s September press release promised themed playlists such as Halloween Movies and Halloween Throwbacks. More in our Disney+ streaming guide. Hulu added Hotel Transylvania (2012) on October 1. On Tubi, Monster House streams free with ads in the Kids & Family lineup from October 1.
For a calm Day of the Dead evening, Netflix adds Day of the Dead: Ofrenda on Tuesday, October 27. It is a music special, not a horror title. Note that Haunted Hotel is animated, but Netflix lists it under adult animation, so keep it for after bedtime.
Horror movies on Shudder, Hulu, Peacock, Prime Video and Tubi
In the US, other services added plenty of horror for October. These additions are confirmed by the services themselves:
Title | Service |
|---|
Crystal Lake, all 8 episodes | Peacock, since Oct. 15 |
Carrie, new series | Prime Video, since Oct. 7 |
Hokum (2026) | Hulu, since Oct. 10 |
Companion (2025) | Hulu, since Oct. 18 |
Hallowarrior | Shudder Original, since Oct. 16 |
V/H/S/Mixtape | Shudder, since Oct. 9 |
R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 | Tubi, free, since Oct. 9 |
Late Night with the Devil | Tubi, free, since Oct. 19 |
Dracula (2025) | Paramount+, since Oct. 12 |
Peacock’s Crystal Lake is the Friday the 13th prequel series, and our guide on where to watch Crystal Lake covers it in detail. Prime Video premiered Carrie on October 7 in the US; see our Prime Video guide for the rest of the service.
Shudder’s Season of Screams lineup covers September and October, and Joe Bob’s Halloween House Party has been on demand since October 25. Our Shudder streaming guide covers the service. Tubi’s Terror on Tubi hub offers more than 13,000 hours of horror for free, and our Tubi guide has the details. Paramount+ groups its scares in the Peak Screaming Collection.
Horror films on Sky Cinema in the UK
Sky Cinema’s Halloween selection includes Weapons (2025), Sinners (2025), 28 Years Later (2025), The Bride! (2026) and Scream 7 (2026), subject to availability, Sky says. Prime Video UK also has Carrie from October 7. Living in the UK and traveling? Our page on watching UK streaming services from anywhere shows which apps follow you.
Why Netflix horror differs by country
Netflix originals usually launch everywhere on the same day. Licensed movies don’t, because rights holders sell them country by country, and Netflix’s Top 10 page itself notes that some titles may not be available in all regions.
Evil Dead Burn was the No. 3 movie in Germany and Austria and No. 6 in Belgium for Oct. 12 to 18, while Netflix’s Czech page says it isn’t available there. Corpse Bride ranked No. 7 in Mexico for Oct. 5 to 11 and is also missing in Czechia. Late Night with the Devil hit No. 8 in Spain for Sep. 28 to Oct. 4 and isn’t on Netflix in Czechia; in the US, Tubi has streamed it free since October 19.
Most of the gaps we can confirm come from Netflix’s Czech title pages, so US examples are rarer. One of them is a video game, not a movie: About Netflix lists The Conjuring: Unspoken, a horror game based on the Conjuring franchise, from October 13 for the US and the UK, but not for Czechia. For the bigger picture, see how the Netflix library differs by country.

Our Halloween night plan
Our tip: start Saturday, October 31 with Is It Cake? Halloween for the kids, then switch to Below or Dead-End Job once they’re asleep. Traveling for Halloween or living abroad for a while? Set up a VPN before you go so your own lineup comes with you.
