Helen and Sam are back, and so is the Christmas chaos they barely survived. Black Doves season 2 arrives on Netflix on Thursday, November 5, 2026, which Netflix confirmed on Tudum and at its first UK Upfront. Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw return as the spy and the hitman, Sarah Lancashire is back as Mrs. Reed, and Ambika Mod, Neve Campbell and Sam Riley join the cast.
Below you will find the release date and the likely release time where you live, the full returning and new cast, what the new season is about without spoilers, how to catch up on season 1 and how to keep your own Netflix if November 5 finds you abroad.
When does Black Doves season 2 come out?
Black Doves season 2 premieres on Netflix on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Tudum says it in one line (“Season 2 premieres Nov. 5 on Netflix”), and the Netflix newsroom confirmed the same date on September 24, 2026, during the streamer’s first UK Upfront. The show’s Netflix title page already carries the tagline “Season 2 Coming November 5.”
That is almost two years after season 1, which premiered on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Netflix announced the return in August 2026, promising the spy thriller would be back “later this year.” The November date keeps that promise.
What time will season 2 drop on Netflix?
Netflix has not published a release time for season 2 yet (as of October 19, 2026). The best guide is the precedent. Netflix usually releases its originals at midnight Pacific time, and season 1 went live at 8 a.m. UTC on December 5, 2024. If season 2 follows the same pattern, here is when it would land. Daylight saving time will already be over in Europe (October 25) and in the US (November 1), so these are winter times:
Where you are | Expected time, Nov 5 |
|---|
Los Angeles | 12 a.m. PT |
Mexico City | 2 a.m. |
New York and Toronto | 3 a.m. ET |
London and Dublin | 8 a.m. |
Paris, Berlin, Madrid | 9 a.m. |
Sydney | 7 p.m. AEDT |
Treat these as the likely slot, not a promise. If Netflix confirms a different hour, the date still holds.
How many episodes are in season 2?
According to Variety and TVLine, season 2 has six episodes, and all of them drop at once on November 5. Netflix itself has not stated the episode count yet, so take the number as reported rather than official. Season 1 also had six episodes, so a six-part second run would keep the same binge-friendly length: one long evening or a relaxed weekend.
Who is in the season 2 cast?
Joe Barton, who created the series, returns as writer and executive producer. Julian Farino and Kieron Hawkes direct the new episodes. In front of the camera, most of the core team is back, and Netflix has added seven new names.
Who is coming back
Keira Knightley as Helen
Ben Whishaw as Sam
Sarah Lancashire as Mrs. Reed, Helen’s handler
Andrew Buchan as Wallace, Helen’s husband
Kathryn Hunter as Lenny Lines
Ella Lily Hyland as Williams
Gabrielle Creevy as Eleanor
Agnes O’Casey as Dani
Molly Chesworth as Marie
Who is new this season
Ambika Mod as Laila, an acerbic, anarchic Black Doves agent sent to help Helen on a mission
Babou Ceesay as Mr. Conteh, a Black Doves executive with suspicious motives
Sam Riley as Patrick, an emissary from a mysterious organization who offers Sam a lifeline
Neve Campbell as Cecile Mason, a US defense envoy
Sylvia Hoeks as Katia Chernov
Goran Kostic as Alexi Chernov
Samuel Barnett as Jerry

Our tip: keep an eye on Ambika Mod. Tudum calls Laila acerbic and anarchic, and she is sent to work right next to Helen, so expect sparks.
What is season 2 about?
Netflix’s official synopsis keeps things tight, and so will we. Helen is still passing her country’s secrets to the Black Doves, the covert organization she works for. After the misadventures of last Christmas, the stakes are higher at home: her husband, Wallace, is preparing to become prime minister.
At the same time, Mrs. Reed gets caught in a ruthless plot to undermine her position inside the Black Doves. That pushes Helen back toward her best friend, Sam. He is not doing well. Once a high-end assassin, he is now down to lonely drinks in Soho bars and cheap jobs. In Tudum’s trailer feature, Sam is described as being in legal trouble and stuck in a kind of Faustian pact with a mysterious man.
Joe Barton summed up the new season in one line to Netflix: “Downing Street will never be the same.” With Wallace on his way to Number 10, that sounds less like a joke and more like a warning.
Is there a season 2 trailer?
Yes. Netflix released the trailer on Thursday, September 24, 2026, as a global first look during its UK Upfront, and posted it on Tudum the same day. It runs about two minutes. Tudum’s tagline gives you the mood: “New enemies, old friends, and plenty of Champagne await when the spy series returns Nov. 5.” You can watch it on the Black Doves title page in the Netflix app.
Where can you watch Black Doves season 1?
Season 1 is on Netflix right now, and that is the only place to stream it. It premiered on December 5, 2024, and has six episodes of roughly 52 to 56 minutes each, so you can catch up in two or three evenings before November 5. Season 2 will appear on the same title page, which today still lists one season.

Is season 2 on BBC or only on Netflix?
Only on Netflix. Black Doves is a British spy thriller, but it is a Netflix original, and Tudum describes it as “only on Netflix.”
Is Black Doves season 2 available in every country?
Netflix releases Black Doves as one of its own originals, and it usually puts originals out in every country where the service operates, on the same day. If you subscribe in the US, the UK, Canada or Australia, season 2 should appear in your home library on November 5. Everything else about the service is in our Netflix streaming guide.
Traveling changes the picture. Inside the EU, the portability rules let you keep your home Netflix library for a limited time while you are temporarily abroad. Outside the EU, or on a longer stay, Netflix shows you the library of the country you are in, and the catalog and audio options can look different overnight. A VPN from our table helps here: connect to a server in your home country and you keep the setup you pay for. You still need your own subscription; a VPN does not make Netflix free. Also keep in mind that over a VPN, Netflix generally shows only titles with global rights. Black Doves is a Netflix original, so that does not affect it.
