How to Watch Kayo Sports from Anywhere: VPN Guide 2026
You pay for Kayo Sports at home in Australia, but the moment you fly out for work or a holiday, the app stops working. The service is geo-locked to Australia and checks your IP address on every login, so a hotel Wi-Fi in London or Bali leaves you staring at an error instead of the footy. With over 50 sports, including every round of AFL and NRL, home cricket, F1 (rights renewed for 2026), MotoGP, Supercars and the NBL, that is a lot to miss.
A VPN fixes it cleanly. Connect to a server back in Australia and Kayo sees the same home location it always has, so your subscription works exactly as it does on the couch. This is not about getting anything free: you already pay for the plan, and the VPN only moves your virtual location back home. Pick a fast provider like NordVPN with reliable Australian servers that hold up for live 4K streams.

Who’s behind the service?
What is Kayo Sports
Kayo Sports is an Australian sports streaming service launched in 2018. It’s run by Foxtel Group, which was acquired by Britain’s DAZN Group in April 2025. The platform carries 50+ sports — AFL, NRL, Formula 1 and cricket — both live and on demand. Its standout SplitView feature lets you follow up to four streams at once. Kayo is available in Australia only and is billed in Australian dollars.

Company and history
- Kayo Sports launched in November 2018 as the Foxtel group's standalone sports streamer, opening with more than fifty sports and an entry price near 25 AUD a month.
- In February 2024 Kayo introduced 4K streaming for selected events while raising prices. It marked the first major jump in picture quality since launch.
- In December 2024 Britain's DAZN announced a deal to acquire the Foxtel group, and with it Kayo Sports, in a transaction valued at roughly 3.4 billion AUD. News Corp and Telstra took minority stakes in DAZN.
- In early March 2025 Kayo renamed both tiers at once: One became Standard and Basic became Premium, which also rose five dollars to 40 AUD a month. Standard stayed the cheapest single-device option.
- On 2 April 2025 DAZN completed the Foxtel acquisition. Kayo Sports kept its own brand and management yet became part of DAZN's global sports empire.
- In July 2025 the Kayo mobile app received its first major overhaul since 2018: a Stories feed, TikTok-style Moments clips and a personalised home page built around your favourite teams.
- From 5 February 2026 Kayo adjusted prices again: Premium jumped to 45.99 AUD a month while Standard dipped a cent to 29.99 AUD. Premium carries 4K and two concurrent streams.

Tips & tricks you should know
5 tips from our Kayo Sports testing team · Updated June 21, 2026
- Run SplitView in a desktop browser or on a tablet to get all four live feeds at once; phones cap you at two simultaneous streams.
- Watching Kayo while travelling or living outside Australia? Connect NordVPN to an Australian server, since Kayo blocks overseas IPs and runs aggressive VPN detection.
- Only the Premium tier (AU$45.99/month) unlocks 4K and two streams; the cheaper Standard plan at AU$29.99 tops out at 1080p on a single device.
- Short on time? Open Kayo Minis for sub-30-minute replays of every AFL, NRL, F1, Supercars and MotoGP fixture, plus ESPN Minis for NBA and NFL within 72 hours.
- If you bundle Kayo with Netflix through Hubbl, you can land both from around AU$25 a month for 12 months instead of paying each service separately.
