How to Watch Paramount+ from Anywhere: VPN Guide 2026
Star Trek, the sprawling Yellowstone universe and Sunday NFL on CBS all sit under one roof, a roof David Ellison took over in August 2025 when Paramount Skydance closed its merger. Because rights are sold country by country, your Paramount+ library shifts the moment you cross a border: certain originals vanish and the episode you queued up suddenly reads “not available in your country.” Watching Paramount+ from anywhere means getting your usual home catalogue back, exactly as you left it.
The fix is quick and above board. Connect through ExpressVPN to a server in your home country and Paramount+ reads your usual IP, then unlocks the full plan you already pay for. The Paramount+ Premium tier even carries 4K and the live CBS feed, so a holiday or a work trip never costs you the season finale. It runs on phones, smart TVs and the browser alike, with no second subscription and no fuss to set up.

Quick answer
Can I watch Paramount+ abroad?
Yes, but you need a VPN. Paramount+ checks your location by IP address and serves a different library, or none at all, once you leave home. Launch ExpressVPN, pick a server in your home country and sign in the usual way. Your account behaves exactly as it does back home, and you can finish that half-watched series in 4K from wherever you happen to be travelling.
VPN Compatibility
Best VPN for Paramount+
Paramount+ actively blocks VPNs. Only certain providers reliably bypass the detection.
Tested on October 5, 2026 · 7 VPNs, 6 working · residential IP from Chile · Paramount+ updates detection continuously, results may change.

Streaming service blocking your VPN? Just disconnect and hop onto a different server in the same country. Stick to the ones labeled “streaming” or “optimized” because they’re literally built for this.
How-to
How to Unblock Paramount+ with a VPN
Takes about 2 minutes. Works on your phone, tablet, TV, PC, or laptop.
1
Pick a reliable VPN
Choose a provider with fast servers and steady streaming; ExpressVPN is a solid bet from $2.79 a month on an annual plan.
Look for a money-back window so you can test the connection risk-free.
2
Connect to your home country
Select a server in the country where your subscription is registered. Paramount+ then loads your home catalogue, including local sports rights.
The nearest in-country server usually gives you the best speed.
3
Open Paramount+
Launch the app or the website and log in with your normal account. There is no second subscription to buy.
If an old location sticks, clear the cache and restart the app.
4
Start streaming
Pick a film or episode and enjoy it in up to 4K with a smooth, buffer-free picture.
On slow hotel Wi-Fi, switch the VPN to another home server.

⚠️
Steer clear of free VPNs. Most of them actually collect and sell your data, lack proper security audits, and can even expose you to malware. They’re also useless for streaming. Platforms block them instantly, leaving you with more headaches than solutions. Stick to paid VPNs with verified audits, like ExpressVPN, if you want something that actually works.
Paramount+ gathers the Paramount Pictures film vault, CBS prime-time drama, Nickelodeon kids programming and MTV reality into one subscription. The backbone is Taylor Sheridan’s growing slate of originals (the Yellowstone spin-offs 1923 and Lawman: Bass Reeves, plus Tulsa King), with Star Trek carrying the sci-fi side and South Park providing the decades-old evergreen. In select regions the service also carries NFL games and UEFA Champions League, blurring the line with traditional sports packages.

CBS All Access
Major changes
CBS launched CBS All Access, the paid streaming predecessor of today’s service, offering live CBS broadcasts alongside an on-demand archive of network shows.
CBS All Access was rebranded as Paramount+ and rolled out across the US, Latin America and the Nordics with an expanded slate of Paramount films and series.
Paramount+ launched as a standalone service in the UK, Ireland and a handful of other markets, while across much of continental Europe the same content is instead distributed under the SkyShowtime brand.
A merger with Showtime’s streaming created the premium Paramount+ with Showtime tier, folding prestige dramas and series into a single subscription.
The Skydance Media merger closed, forming Paramount Skydance with David Ellison as chairman and chief executive, alongside pledges of heavier content investment.
In the US, Paramount+ raised Essential to $8.99 and Premium to $13.99 a month from 15 January 2026 ($89.99 and $139.99 yearly) and ended its free trials at the same time.

Insider Tips
Tips & tricks you should know
5 tips from our Paramount+ testing team · Updated July 17, 2026
1
The annual Paramount+ plan effectively gives you about two months free versus monthly billing, a smart move if you binge the Taylor Sheridan universe year round.
2
4K UHD and offline downloads are locked to the Premium tier; the cheaper Essential plan tops out at 1080p and runs ads.
3
Your catalog changes by country, so when you travel connect ExpressVPN to a server back home to keep your usual Paramount+ library and shows.
4
Sports rights are region specific: NFL games and the Champions League stream only in select markets, so confirm coverage for your country before subscribing.
5
One account supports up to three simultaneous streams and separate profiles, so the household can split between Star Trek, South Park and Nickelodeon kids at once.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before subscribing to Paramount+.
In the vast majority of countries, yes. Connecting through a VPN and watching the Paramount+ subscription you already pay for are not crimes. You stay within ordinary use and simply restore access to your own content. ExpressVPN also encrypts the link, so you protect your data on public networks too. Always check the local rules of the country you are travelling to.
Studios sell broadcasting rights country by country, so a series available at home may be licensed elsewhere to a rival like Peacock. Paramount+ therefore switches the library by your IP address, or denies access entirely. ExpressVPN hands you a home IP and, with it, the catalogue you know, no matter where you happen to be sitting at the time.
A small speed dip is normal with any encrypted connection, but a good provider is barely noticeable. ExpressVPN keeps the throughput high enough for higher-resolution Paramount+ streaming. Choose a server close to your home country, pause background downloads, and switch servers if you see buffering. A wired connection or 5G will handle a smooth picture without trouble.
Yes, with one extra step. Some smart TVs do not support VPN apps, so install ExpressVPN on your router or share the connection from a laptop. That protects every device on the network at once. A cheap Android TV streaming box is another option, since you can install the app directly and Paramount+ then runs as if you were home.
The Paramount+ Premium tier costs $13.99 a month and adds prestige dramas, the live CBS channel and a higher-resolution picture. The cheaper Paramount+ Essential starts at $8.99 with ads. Your home Paramount+ subscription price never changes wherever you go; the only extra is a VPN, with ExpressVPN from $2.79 a month on an annual plan.
Sports rights are the most tightly guarded, because Paramount+ buys them for a specific market. In the US, CBS carries the Champions League and the NFL, but step outside the country and the live feed locks. ExpressVPN with a server in your home country restores the broadcast just as it works at home. Expect coverage to stay region-bound.
Sometimes Paramount+ caches an older location reading. Sign out, clear the app cache or your browser cookies, and reconnect through ExpressVPN to a different server in your home country. Restarting the app and wiping the device location history helps too. If nothing works, try another connection type, for example mobile data instead of Wi-Fi, until Paramount+ reads your home region again.
Yes, premium subscribers can download titles to a phone or tablet and watch them offline. Grab them while you are still home, or with ExpressVPN connected to your home country, so Paramount+ offers the full library. Offline then works even on a plane. Note that sports and live channels usually cannot be downloaded; those need a connection.
No. The whole point of a VPN is to keep using the single account you already pay for. ExpressVPN simply makes Paramount+ believe you are back in your home country, so your profiles, watchlist and viewing history carry over untouched. Buying a separate subscription in another market would cost more and split your data across two accounts for no benefit.
Choose a server inside the country where your Paramount+ subscription is registered, ideally the closest city to keep latency low. ExpressVPN lists load levels, so favour a lightly used server for steadier streaming. If one address gets flagged, rotate to another in the same country. Avoid distant servers, since extra hops add lag and can drop playback quality.
Paramount+ tries, like most platforms, by flagging heavily shared IP addresses. That is why a service that refreshes its servers often matters. ExpressVPN rotates its IPs and usually stays a step ahead of those filters. If one connection stops working, simply switch to another server in your home country to recover access within seconds, no settings to dig through.
Yes, your Paramount+ account supports several profiles and screens, and a VPN does not change that. Everyone keeps their usual profile while ExpressVPN anchors the connection in your home country. If you travel together, set the VPN up on the rental router and every device is covered at once, with nothing to install on each television or tablet you bring along.
