New on HBO Max in November 2026: City of God: The Fight Rages On returns for season 2 worldwide on November 8, A24’s Tony sends a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain into a Provincetown kitchen on November 20, and four new HBO documentaries arrive in the second half of the month.
Our calendar has 18 entries, from Christmas classics on November 1 to three new HBO Originals on November 27. Most come from the official US list HBO Max published on Thursday, October 22, which says it may still change. As of October 26, 2026, the European branches haven’t posted a monthly list, so we’ll add titles as they’re confirmed.
The catch: the lineup depends on the country. Infamia is announced only for Spain, Clangold for the US and the German-speaking countries, and in the UK The Gilded Age airs on Sky, not HBO Max. Travel outside the EU and your app may show a different November than the one you pay for at home.

New shows coming in November 2026
City of God: The Fight Rages On season 2 (November 8)
The Brazilian HBO Original returns on Sunday, November 8, and HBO says it will stream globally on HBO Max. The German-speaking countries and Spain confirmed the same date in their own press releases. Season 2 has six episodes, and in the US a new one drops every Sunday.
After the death of drug boss Curió, a violent fight for territory breaks out. Newly elected councilwoman Berenice (Roberta Rodrigues) takes on corruption and the militia, lawyer Jerusa (Andréia Horta) wants revenge on the people who destroyed her family, and Leka (Luellem de Castro) brings the neighborhood together with funk and dance parties. Alexandre Rodrigues also stars. Shot in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, it picks up from the 2002 film. Aly Muritiba directs, and Fernando Meirelles is among the producers. Our tip for the month.
Melania Rea (November 6)
This four-part Italian HBO Original dramatizes a real case from 2011, when the body of 29-year-old Melania Rea was found in the woods near Ripe di Civitella. Maria Esposito plays Melania and Daniele Rienzo plays Salvatore Parolisi. It’s on the US list for Friday, November 6. In Italy it starts the same day, with a new episode every week. It is based on the killing of a real young woman, so go in knowing the subject is heavy.
Infamia (November 13 in Spain)
Spain’s new six-part thriller from Evafilms premieres on HBO Max in Spain on Friday, November 13. Two episodes screen first on Saturday, October 31, at the South International Series Festival in Cádiz. Susana Abaitua plays Emma Cruz, a lawyer in an existential crisis who becomes fixated on the unsolved disappearance of two girls twenty years ago. Her search in a closed village leads her to people who want the truth to stay hidden.
Jorge Bosch, Jon Olivares, Iñigo Gastesi and Eva Llorach co-star, and Agustina Macri directs. Other countries haven’t been announced yet.
The Gilded Age season 4: US on November 1, UK on Sky
Season 4 starts in the US on Sunday, November 1, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max, with eight episodes airing weekly on Sundays. HBO Max in Spain has it from Monday, November 2. In the UK it isn’t an HBO Max title: it airs on Sky Atlantic and streams on NOW from November 2. More in our Gilded Age season 4 release date guide.
New documentaries in November: Clangold and more
Clangold (November 13)
Clangold is a four-part German HBO Original from beetz brothers film production. It covers the 2017 theft of the Big Maple Leaf, a 100 kg gold coin, from Berlin’s Bode Museum, its links to organized crime in the city and the difficult investigation that followed. It arrives on Friday, November 13, exclusively on HBO Max in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and the US list has it on the same day. Our tip for heist fans.
More new documentaries in November
When a Witness Recants (Tue, Nov 17) goes back to 1983, when a 14-year-old boy was killed in a Baltimore school hallway. Three innocent teenagers were sentenced to life, and years later witnesses took back the testimony they had been pressured into giving as teens. Dawn Porter directs, and Ta-Nehisi Coates is among the executive producers.
The Hotline (Wed, Nov 18) looks inside Never Use Alone, an overdose prevention line where volunteers stay on the phone with people using opioids and call emergency services if needed. Ricki Stern and Jesse Sweet direct.
The Buffalo Miracle (Tue, Nov 24), from Ben Proudfoot, tells the true story of strangers who rode out a devastating Buffalo snowstorm in a McDonald’s that refused to close.
The Slightest Touch (Wed, Nov 25) follows Emma Fogarty, born with epidermolysis bullosa, a condition in which the skin tears at the slightest touch. At 40, an age doctors said she wouldn’t reach, she runs the Dublin Marathon with her longtime friend Colin Farrell. Rachel Fleit directs. Our pick of the four.
Cycling fans get Tadej Pogačar: Anatomy of a G.O.A.T. (Sat, Nov 7), a Eurosport documentary.
What movies are coming in November 2026?
Tony (November 20)
A24’s Tony follows a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain to Provincetown, where he falls into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen during the summer that shapes his life. Dominic Sessa, Emilia Jones, Leo Woodall and Antonio Banderas star, and Matt Johnson directs. It’s on the US list for Friday, November 20. Our movie pick for a weekend night.
Christmas classics and other movies on the US list
HBO Max in the US stocks up on holiday favorites on Sunday, November 1: Elf, The Polar Express, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Four Christmases and Meet Me in St. Louis. The same day brings Dune (1984), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Scream (1996) and Jerry Maguire.
On November 2, four Planet of the Apes movies from 2011 to 2024 arrive. Later come Madame Web (Nov 14), The Roses (Nov 20) and The Magic Faraway Tree (Nov 27).
These are licensed movies, sold country by country, and HBO Max hasn’t said whether they reach Europe. The US list also includes live sports, NHL hockey and college basketball, on select plans.
When does Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking season 3 start?
Season 3 premieres on Wednesday, November 4, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Food Network and HBO Max in the US, with seven episodes. For the 25th anniversary of the first film, four teams of three bakers compete, each one representing a Hogwarts house, and the contestants return from earlier seasons. James and Oliver Phelps host. International premiere dates haven’t been announced yet.
Why HBO Max titles differ by country
In the UK, existing HBO franchises and their new seasons stay on Sky Atlantic under the deal between Sky and Warner Bros. Discovery. That’s why The Gilded Age season 4 goes to Sky and NOW there, even though HBO Max has been available in the UK since March 26, 2026. If you pay for British services, our guide to watching UK TV abroad helps on the road.
Local originals start at home. Infamia is announced for Spain, Clangold for the German-speaking countries and the US. As of October 26, Clangold’s title page is already in the HBO Max catalog in Czechia, Spain and France, but without an official date, while the US page isn’t live yet.
Licensed movies such as Elf or Madame Web appear on the US list only, which doesn’t mean Europe won’t get them.

How to watch your home HBO Max from abroad with a VPN
HBO Max shows the lineup of the country you’re in, so on a trip from New York to London or Tokyo the titles you planned to watch may be missing. A VPN from our table connects you to a server back home, so HBO Max sees you in your home country again and you watch your own lineup. You keep paying for your own subscription; a VPN doesn’t make HBO Max free.
EU subscribers have it easier: under EU portability rules, your home lineup follows you during a temporary stay in another EU country. The VPN matters once you leave the EU, say for the UK, Switzerland, the US or Asia, or when you stay abroad longer. Our HBO Max streaming guide covers the details.
