Both prices are for the 2-year plan, which you pay in full at checkout. VAT or sales tax is added there too, based on the country you select. The discount also varies slightly by region: 78% in the US and most of Europe, 77% in the UK, Canada, Australia and Switzerland, 76% in Poland and Japan, and 75% in Brazil and Mexico. In the UK, Basic costs £2.29 a month during Black Friday week.
One more thing to know before you look at the checkout: the monthly figure is there for comparison. You pay for the whole term at once, so the total on the order summary covers 2 years of service, plus the bonus months where they apply.

Black Friday itself falls on Friday, November 27 and Cyber Monday on November 30, both inside this window.
Phase 3, early December. A Cyber Monday offer follows Black Friday week and runs into the start of December. NordVPN hasn’t confirmed its price or end date yet, so don’t count on it beating $2.99. If you’ve been waiting for the lowest price, December 1 is the safe deadline.
Every plan includes the same VPN. The higher tiers add extra apps on top. NordVPN sells plans for 2 years, 1 year and 1 month, and the deal applies to the 2-year plan.
Basic gives you the full VPN: 10 devices at once and the NordLynx protocol. It also includes the Kill Switch, which cuts your connection if the VPN drops, Double VPN, obfuscated servers for networks that block VPN traffic, and Meshnet for linking your own devices.
