ATV was Austria’s first nationwide private television channel. It went on air in 2003 as ATVplus, took its current name in 2006, and belongs to ProSiebenSat.1 PULS 4. Around two fifths of the schedule is made in house, mostly Austrian reality and docu soap formats such as the flagship Bauer sucht Frau, Teenager werden Mütter and Pfusch am Bau. Around that sit the ATV Aktuell news, documentaries, US and German series and free TV movie premieres. The live stream and the catch up Mediathek run free and ad supported, exclusively through the Joyn platform, since ATV has no standalone app of its own. The stream is available only from inside Austria, and online quality tops out around 720p, with no 4K.

- Launching as ATVplus, the station went on air as Austria's first nationwide terrestrial private television channel, breaking the long-standing monopoly the public broadcaster ORF held over over-the-air TV.
- After three years on air the channel dropped the plus and rebranded from ATVplus to the leaner ATV, betting on homegrown reality formats and docu-soaps that gradually turned it into a household entertainment brand.
- The group widened its lineup with sister channel ATV2, built around films and series, complementing the flagship and strengthening its footing among Austria's commercial broadcasters.
- On the sixth of April, after regulatory clearance, ProSiebenSat.1 PULS 4 completed its takeover of ATV and ATV2 from previous owner Tele München, folding both channels into its Austrian portfolio.
- The broadcaster switched off the channel's standard-definition satellite signal and moved fully to HD, simplifying distribution and nudging viewers onto a sharper picture.
- On the third of December the reality format Bauer sucht Frau hit an all-time high: 367,000 viewers and a twenty-five percent share, the best result in the show's history on the channel.
- On the twenty-seventh of May the twenty-third season of Bauer sucht Frau premiered on Joyn and the channel, hosted by Arabella Kiesbauer and featuring three female farmers among the cast for the first time.
