W24, known as Wiener Stadtfernsehen, is the municipal city channel of Vienna, Austria. It is operated by WH Media GmbH, a company within Wien Holding, the holding group owned by the City of Vienna. Launched in 2005, it switched to a full 24 hour schedule in 2012. The channel is free and ad-supported, broadcasting local Vienna news around the clock alongside city culture such as the Popfest Wien festival and the Fasching carnival, regional sport and local magazine shows. Major changes
- W24 went on air on 10 March 2005 as an information channel for Vienna, carried on the UPC Telekabel cable network and online.
- From October 2011 the station switched to the 16:9 widescreen format, a first modernization step ahead of its much bigger relaunch.
- On 11 April 2012, W24 unveiled a full relaunch at the Odeon theatre in Vienna, with 14 new formats, a fresh logo and a red band as its key visual.
- In January 2022 W24 launched the service magazine "Alles klar!", which every Wednesday advises viewers on practical everyday matters with invited experts on hand.
- In December 2025 W24 added the new mental-health talk show "Musalek & Titze", airing every Wednesday at 8 p.m. from 10 December.
- From 10 to 17 May 2026, W24 helped run the Eurovision Village on Rathausplatz, putting Vienna's young music scene on the main stage during the contest.
