How to Watch Vivo TV outside Brazil: VPN Guide 2026
Vivo TV is the TV arm of Vivo, the carrier Telefônica Brasil runs out of São Paulo, and it is sold to one audience only: Vivo customers. It sits on the same Vivo bill as a Vivo Fibra fiber line or a Vivo Controle or Vivo Pós phone plan, and every account is tied to a Brazilian CPF. If you are looking into Vivo TV outside Brazil, start with two facts. The service is built for Brazil, and it comes in two flavors. Vivo TV Inicial and Vivo TV Estendido are app-only plans with no set-top box, while Vivo TV Avançado and Vivo TV Completo add a box on top of Vivo Fibra.
A VPN with a server in Brazil changes your virtual location, so you can watch your Vivo TV channels anywhere in the world just like at home: CNN Brasil, ESPN, Record, SBT and Band. We recommend Surfshark. Vivo TV plans start from ≈ $8.92 a month, for Vivo customers only, and you keep paying Vivo yourself. The VPN is a separate subscription.

Quick answer
Can I watch Vivo TV outside Brazil?
Yes, as long as you are a Vivo customer. Vivo TV is built for Brazil and you sign up there, with a CPF and a Vivo Fibra, Vivo Controle or Vivo Pós contract. In the US, switch on Surfshark, pick a Brazilian server, then sign in with your CPF and Vivo app password, and ESPN, CNN Brasil, Record and the kids channels are back on your screen. Without a Vivo account in Brazil, though, there is no way to subscribe.

- Connect to a Brazilian serverOpen the VPN app, choose Brazil and go with São Paulo if it is on the list. Leave the connection on for as long as you are watching.
- Sign in to Vivo TVOn a computer, open vivotv.com.br in Chrome or Edge; on a TV or phone, use the app. Tap Acessar com Vivo and enter the account holder’s CPF plus the Vivo app password.
- Watch live or catch up laterReprise replays shows up to 7 days back without recording, and live TV can be paused or restarted from the top. Useful when the evening news from Brasília lands in the middle of a West Coast workday. Back in Brazil, the set-top box plans reach up to 4K.

Steer clear of free VPNs. Most of them actually collect and sell your data, lack proper security audits, and can even expose you to malware. They’re also useless for streaming. Platforms block them instantly, leaving you with more headaches than solutions. Stick to paid VPNs with verified audits, like Surfshark, if you want something that actually works.

About the platform
Who’s behind the service?
What is Vivo TV
Vivo TV, formerly Vivo Play, is the television service of Brazilian carrier Vivo, reserved for its mobile and fiber customers. It comes in two shapes: an app with the Vivo TV Inicial and Vivo TV Estendido plans, no set-top box needed, and IPTV with a decoder on Vivo Fibra through Vivo TV Avançado and Vivo TV Completo. Expect channels like CNN Brasil, ESPN, Record, SBT and Discovery Kids, on-demand movies and series, and movie rentals in Bilheteria. Paired with a VPN on a Brazilian server, it travels with you.
Company and history

Major changes
- An app for iPhone and iPad lands in the App Store, and it is the same app that later grew into today's Vivo TV for customers of Brazilian carrier Vivo.
- Disney Junior, Disney XD, Nat Geo Kids and Nat Geo Wild leave the Vivo Play lineup. The call came from the programmer, the company that owns the channels.
- Vivo changes the prices of its online plans, Vivo Play App Inicial and Vivo Play App Estendido. Customers were told about the change on March 1, 2023.
- Globo channels arrive in the Vivo Play app for pay TV customers with a set-top box. They are not part of today's online plans.
- Paramount+ subscriptions through Vivo Play come to an end. Vivo had already stopped selling new ones on August 18, 2024, and existing subscriptions ran out in mid September.
- Vivo Play TV plans pick up the Taplingo, Ubook Minibooks, DumDum Livros, Revistaria and Cindie apps at no extra charge, depending on the plan. Vivo announced it on May 13, 2025.
- Vivo announces that Vivo Play becomes Vivo TV from October 2025. Only the brand name changes; the subscription terms stay exactly as they were.
- The plans get their new names: Vivo TV Inicial, Vivo TV Estendido, Vivo TV Avançado and Vivo TV Completo.

Insider Tips
Tips & tricks you should know
5 tips from our Vivo TV testing team · Updated October 30, 2026
- Don't expect Globo or SporTV on Vivo TV Inicial or Estendido; Inicial already covers the main Brazilian news and sports channels, while Estendido adds channels like TV5Monde, TVE and SIC Internacional.
- On a laptop, the web player at vivotv.com.br runs in Chrome or Edge; in a phone browser the site sends you to the app instead.
- HBO Max and Telecine only come included with the set-top-box plan Vivo TV Completo, while Vivo may throw in three months of YouTube Premium as a promo with Vivo TV Inicial.
- Before handing the app to your kids, set up the kids profile and a 4-digit parental PIN; Cartoon Network and Discovery Kids are already part of Vivo TV Inicial.
- With Surfshark on a server in Brazil, sports on ESPN 1, 2, 3 and Extra and news from CNN Brasil and BandNews are right there in the app wherever you are in the US; your Vivo subscription stays your own.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before subscribing to Vivo TV.
Plans start from ≈ $8.92 a month and are billed on your Vivo invoice, for Vivo customers only. Vivo TV Inicial carries 40+ channels and Vivo TV Estendido 80+, both in the app. Vivo TV Avançado with 120 channels and Vivo TV Completo with 140 come with a set-top box on your own Vivo Fibra line. Prices may vary by region.
Vivo customers only. The online plans, Inicial and Estendido, are open to Vivo Fibra, Vivo Controle and Vivo Pós customers, while the set-top box plans are limited to Vivo Fibra and Vivo Total. Checkout asks for a Brazilian mobile number and a CPF. There is no standalone version without a Vivo contract, so no Vivo account in Brazil means no subscription, and a VPN does not change that.
A VPN with a server in Brazil changes your virtual location, so you can watch your Vivo TV channels anywhere in the world just like at home. We recommend Surfshark, which runs servers right inside Brazil. With Surfshark you can unlock your Brazilian lineup in a few minutes, while your Vivo subscription stays in your name and on your bill.
Vivo TV Inicial includes, among others, ESPN 1, 2, 3 and ESPN Extra, TNT, Warner, Sony, AXN, A&E, Discovery Channel, History, CNN Brasil, BandNews, Jovem Pan News, Band, Record, SBT, Cultura and Rede TV. Vivo TV Estendido adds channels such as Bandsports, ESPN 4, Fox Sports 2, TNT Séries, BBC World News, CNN Internacional, Portugal’s SIC Internacional, TV5Monde and TVE. The list is not complete.
Not on the online plans. Globo, SporTV and GloboNews do not appear in the channel lists for Vivo TV Inicial or Vivo TV Estendido. On the set-top box plans, Globoplay lets you sign in to the Globo channels in your package, but the rest of Globoplay needs its own subscription. For Globo novelas, look at Globoplay, which has its own page on StreamFix.
Only with one condition. Brasileirão matches air on Premiere, a paid add-on channel available only with the set-top box plans Vivo TV Avançado and Vivo TV Completo. Premiere is not part of the online plans, Vivo TV Inicial and Vivo TV Estendido. Without a box, check out Premiere as a separate platform. On the online side, sports mostly means ESPN 1, 2, 3 and Extra, with Bandsports, ESPN 4 and Fox Sports 2 on Estendido.
As of October 30, 2026, the US App Store lists the app under its former name, Vivo Play, and watching still requires your Vivo account plus Surfshark on a Brazilian server. The app supports Android 8.0 and up, iPhone and iPad on iOS 15 or later, Apple TV, Samsung and LG TVs from 2017, Android TV and Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast and the Stick Vivo TV. On a computer, use the web player at vivotv.com.br in Chrome or Edge.
The online plans, Vivo TV Inicial and Vivo TV Estendido, allow up to 3 streams at the same time across as many as 10 registered devices. The set-top box plans on Vivo Fibra add up to 3 extra logins through the app or the web. So your family can watch at home in Brazil while you tune in from the US with Surfshark on a Brazilian server.
YouTube TV is a US live TV service for viewers here. Vivo TV is Brazilian TV from carrier Vivo, sold to Vivo customers: news on CNN Brasil and BandNews, sports on ESPN, entertainment on Record, SBT and Band. For American channels, YouTube TV is the obvious place to look. For your Brazilian lineup outside Brazil, you need a Vivo account plus Surfshark connected to a server in Brazil.
You sign in through Acessar com Vivo, using the account holder’s CPF and the password from the Vivo app. Charges go on your Vivo bill alongside your phone or fiber plan. The online plans have no fees and no contract, and you can cancel at any time. In Brazil, Vivo Controle and Vivo Pós customers watching Inicial or Estendido also do not use up data from their plan.
Vivo TV Completo includes HBO Max and Telecine, and Vivo runs a promo with 3 months of YouTube Premium on Vivo TV Inicial. Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Globoplay and Prime Video open inside the interface, but only with your own account. Bilheteria rents movies, there is a kids section with a kids profile, and parental controls lock content behind a 4-digit PIN. Existing Vivo customers (Pós, Controle, Fibra) also get 20+ live channels at no extra charge; this is a customer perk, not a free standalone plan.
