How to Watch TLMad+ outside Spain: VPN Guide 2026
Madrid’s public broadcaster switched on a free, ad-supported OTT service on 2 May 2026, the regional holiday and the very day the channel first aired back in 1989. TLMad+ bundles the live Telemadrid, LaOtra and Onda Madrid radio feeds into a single app alongside a deep archive: Telenoticias bulletins, the Madrid Directo magazine, drama, films, documentaries, culture, sport and kids shows. There is no paywall and no subscription whatsoever; an account is optional, and the whole thing runs on advertising rather than a monthly fee.
The catch shows up the moment you log in to TLMad+ from outside Spain. RTVM’s own productions stream worldwide without a hitch, but licensed films, sports rights and the San Isidro bullfighting channel stay firmly locked to a Spanish IP address. Fire up ExpressVPN, pick a server in Spain, and the full lineup opens back up in 1080p without you paying a cent for the service itself.

Who’s behind the service?
What is TLMad+
TLMad+ is the free, ad-supported streaming platform of Telemadrid (RTVM), the public broadcaster for the Comunidad de Madrid, which went live in May 2026. It streams the Telemadrid, LaOtra and Onda Madrid channels, with news shows such as Madrid Directo and 120 minutos, plus series, films, documentaries, culture and sport through Fútbol Directo. Telemadrid’s own productions are available broadly worldwide, while licensed films, sport and bullfighting are restricted to Spain.

Company and history
- RTVM unveiled TLMad+ three days ahead of launch, promising a free ad-supported model, apps for phones and smart TVs, and a catalogue spanning news, drama, films and kids programming under one roof.
- The platform went live on Madrid Community Day, the anniversary of Telemadrid’s first broadcast in 1989. The TLMad+ launch bundled the live Telemadrid, LaOtra and Onda Madrid radio feeds with an on-demand archive.
- A press release detailed the geography: RTVM’s own output streams worldwide while licensed content stays tied to Spain. The Madrid diaspora has the separate Telemadrid INT channel, free on YouTube since 1 July 2024.
- A dedicated bullfighting channel began carrying the San Isidro Fair from 8 May to 14 June, closing with the Corrida de Beneficencia. Each bullfight stays available for seven days after airing.
- The platform’s technology and operation are handled by Crossmedia, part of ES Media Group, the digital division of concession holder Crosspoint, which drove the launch and runs the day-to-day service.
- At launch the archive offered eighteen months of entertainment, six months of current affairs and three months of Telenoticias bulletins, organised into themed sections: film, sport, documentary, kids and culture.

Tips & tricks you should know
5 tips from our TLMad+ testing team · Updated June 11, 2026
- You can watch without an account, but free registration unlocks resume across devices, favorites, new-episode alerts and offline downloads for trips.
- Outside Spain the licensed films, sport and bullfighting are geo-locked: pair ExpressVPN with a Madrid server to open the full catalogue, including the San Isidro channel.
- Telemadrid's own shows stream worldwide via the INT international feed, so Madrid news and current affairs load even without a VPN.
- Brace for heavy ads at the start and during breaks, the reason the app slid below three stars in stores: a big-screen device makes them easier to sit through.
- Catch-up titles often appear in the archive roughly a day after broadcast, so wait about 24 hours rather than searching right after air.
