How to Watch STAGE OTT outside India: VPN Guide 2026
Bhairavi, MahaPunarjanam and the Bengali series Dahan stream on STAGE OTT, a subscription service launched in 2019 and run by Delhi-based STAGE Technologies. It offers films, web series and vertical microdramas in Indian dialects and languages. If you’re looking for STAGE OTT in the US, note how the company describes it: its refund policy calls it “a subscription-based OTT (Over-The-Top) platform available in India.” The lineup covers Haryanvi, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali and Hindi.
Everything else points to India, too. The sign-in form on stage.in offers the +91 country code and texts you a one-time passcode, and the FAQ says subscriptions are currently paid through UPI, India’s instant payment system. A subscription costs ₹199 a month, and there’s a quarterly plan as well. The app is in the US App Store, but that doesn’t mean the service works outside India. If you already have an Indian account and subscription, connect Surfshark to a server in India to get an Indian virtual location. Your subscription is still billed as usual.

It’s built for India. The refund policy describes the service as available in India, the sign-in form on the website offers the +91 country code, and the FAQ names UPI as the payment method. The app is listed in the US App Store, but downloading it doesn’t mean the service works outside India. If you already subscribe in India, connect Surfshark to a server there to get an Indian virtual location.

How-to
How to Unblock STAGE OTT with a VPN
Takes about 2 minutes. Works on your phone, tablet, TV, PC, or laptop.
- Pick a VPN with servers in IndiaWithout a server in India, you won’t get an Indian virtual location. Our current pick is Surfshark, from $1.78 a month.India isn’t on every provider’s server list, so check the locations before you pay.
- Connect to a server in IndiaChoose India in the VPN app and wait until the connection is up. Only then open stage.in or the app. The VPN changes your virtual location, not your subscription or billing.
- Sign in with your Indian numberThe sign-in form on stage.in offers the +91 country code and texts you a one-time passcode, so keep the phone with your Indian number nearby. Under the terms of use, content can only be watched with an active subscription.
- Watch on your TVThe company’s TV page lists an Android TV app, apps for Samsung and LG smart TVs, and casting through the Cast icon. Run the VPN on the device that actually plays the video, or on your router.

Steer clear of free VPNs. Most of them actually collect and sell your data, lack proper security audits, and can even expose you to malware. They’re also useless for streaming. Platforms block them instantly, leaving you with more headaches than solutions. Stick to paid VPNs with verified audits, like Surfshark, if you want something that actually works.

About the platform
Who’s behind the service?
What is STAGE OTT
STAGE OTT is an Indian subscription streaming service with movies, web series, and vertical microdramas in seven dialects and languages: Haryanvi, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, and Hindi. Delhi-based STAGE Technologies runs it; founders Vinay Singhal, Parveen Singhal, and Shashank Vaishnav launched it in November 2019 with Haryanvi content. Titles include Bhairavi, Saanwari, and the Bengali series Dahan. Plans are monthly or quarterly, with a seven-day trial for a nominal fee. Playback is ad-free, but a September 2026 partnership brought ad placements to the app’s home screen. Most content has Hindi and English subtitles; downloads require the Android or iOS app. Watch on iPhone, iPad, Android, or the web; the company also lists Android TV plus Samsung and LG smart TVs. The service targets India: its sign-in form offers the Indian +91 code and its FAQ lists UPI payments, yet the app is also in the US App Store.

Insider Tips
Tips & tricks you should know
5 tips from our STAGE OTT testing team · Updated September 17, 2026
- If you have an Indian STAGE OTT subscription and you're in the US, connect Surfshark to a server in India, though playback outside India isn't guaranteed.
- You'll find the app in the US App Store, but that doesn't mean STAGE OTT works outside India: the sign-in form offers the +91 code and the FAQ lists only UPI payments.
- Under the terms of use, the trial costs ₹1 for 7 days and the quarterly plan ₹399 for 3 months; payments aren't refundable, so settle on a plan length before you pay.
- Even if you don't speak Haryanvi or Bhojpuri, you can follow most STAGE OTT content with Hindi and English subtitles, and the interface is available in English too.
- You can only download titles in the Android or iOS app; for TV, STAGE OTT lists an Android TV app, Samsung and LG smart TV apps, and casting via the Cast icon.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before subscribing to STAGE OTT.
A subscription costs ₹199 a month, with prices listed in Indian rupees. The terms of use dated June 1, 2025 also list a quarterly plan and a seven-day trial for a nominal fee. Plans renew automatically unless you cancel, and a text or app notification arrives one day before each automatic payment. Once paid, a subscription is non-refundable.
According to the FAQ, subscriptions are currently paid through UPI (Unified Payments Interface). That’s India’s instant payment system, used mostly via banking and payment apps. The FAQ doesn’t list any other payment method, and it doesn’t say whether a US card works. Look closely at the payment screen before you count on subscribing from the US.
The sign-in form on stage.in offers India’s +91 country code and texts you a one-time passcode. That points to Indian phone numbers, just as UPI points to Indian payments. In other words, STAGE OTT is an Indian service, not a US one like Hulu. The code goes to the number you enter, so keep that phone handy when you sign in.
The terms of use, dated June 1, 2025, don’t explicitly prohibit VPNs. That’s no guarantee the service works outside India, though, since the refund policy describes it as available in India. If you already have an Indian account with an active subscription, connecting Surfshark to a server in India gets you an Indian virtual location. You’ll still pay for your plan as usual.
Yes. In September 2026, the iPhone and iPad app was available to download from the US App Store. Downloading it doesn’t mean the service works outside India, though. Sign-in and payment are set up for India, and neither the terms of use nor the FAQ says whether content plays in the US. Keep that in mind before you pay.
The FAQ lists seven dialects: Haryanvi, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali and Hindi. Most content comes with Hindi and English subtitles, and the interface is available in English and Hindi. So even if you don’t speak any of the dialects, you can follow most titles with English subtitles.
Films, web series and short vertical series, often called microdramas. The Google Play listing from September 2026 highlights titles such as Khejdi, Naate, Saanwari, MahaPunarjanam and Bhairavi, plus Dahan, a Bengali series. Under the terms of use, content can be viewed, streamed or downloaded only with a subscription.
iPhone, iPad, Android phones and the stage.in website. According to the company’s TV page, there’s also an Android TV app, apps for Samsung and LG smart TVs, and casting through the Cast icon. If you use a VPN, run it on the device that actually plays the video, or set it up on your router.
Yes, but only in the Android or iOS app, according to the FAQ. The stage.in website doesn’t offer downloads. Saving a few episodes ahead of time makes sense when you know your connection will be patchy. Downloads follow the same rule as streaming: the terms of use tie them to an active subscription.
Not while you watch. The Google Play listing promises an ad-free premium experience. Since September 2026, though, a partnership with ad tech company Frodoh has added ad placements to the app’s home screen. According to the announcement, streaming itself stays completely ad-free. So expect ads while you browse the home screen, not once a video starts.
