Sky Network Television Limited, an independent New Zealand broadcaster listed on the NZX, launched Sky Go NZ in December 2013, renaming its earlier iSKY. Register and the free to air channel Sky Open plays with no paid account, local shows and documentaries included. Starter subscribers and above get the app at no extra cost: it runs on the same subscription as satellite and adds Catch Up, though not everything on satellite is licensed. It plays on phones, tablets and browsers; a TV needs casting; New Zealand only.

- Sky widened its Warner Bros. Discovery deal. The Max hub and a dedicated HBO linear channel arrived on the Sky Box, the Sky Pod and the streaming app, with the hub also landing on Neon.
- Sky announced it would buy Discovery NZ for one New Zealand dollar. The package covered the Three, Bravo, Eden, Rush and HGTV channels plus the ThreeNow streaming service.
- The deal closed and Discovery NZ was renamed Sky Free. The New Zealand business now spanned satellite, streaming and free to air television, along with the advertising revenue that comes with it.
- Sky launched its own channels Sky Comedy and Sky Kids, both watchable in the app. The annual report counts them among the new Sky built channels meant to sharpen the entertainment lineup.
- Sky expanded its Paramount deal, taking Showtime, Paramount+ and CBS series for itself and for Neon, among them the Yellowstone spin offs Dutton Ranch and The Madison.
- Sky announced it would not renew the Warner Bros. Discovery agreement for HBO Max content once it ran out in mid June 2026. Warner then launched HBO Max in New Zealand on its own.
- Sky extended its Premier League deal by six years, through the 2033/34 season, with two seasons still to run on the old contract. The matches stay on the Sky Sport channels.
