- NZ On Screen went live with 280 titles and 140 creator biographies. It was a free public archive of New Zealand television and film from day one, paid for by the agency NZ On Air.
- Seven months after launch the archive took a Qantas Media Award for best entertainment website, an early sign that a publicly funded film archive could work as a genuine destination.
- Sister music site AudioCulture launched, and both projects moved under the newly formed Digital Media Trust, the charity that still runs the archive, handles licensing, and pays the editors.
- A redesign brought a fresh look and, more to the point, a new technical platform that let the team serve video at higher quality and handle a steadily growing audience.
- The tenth birthday count stood at roughly 2,300 television titles, 380 films, 600 music videos, and 175 web series, all free and, in the site’s own words, with no advertising.
- A dedicated collection marked thirty years of Te Māngai Pāho, the Māori broadcasting funder, tracing how television in te reo changed across three decades and what survives in the archive.
- The Behind the Scenes collection gathered more than fifty titles about the work off camera: crew interviews, on-set footage, and making-of documentaries from well-known New Zealand productions.
