- Slovakia’s first big private broadcaster, TV Markíza, went on air on 31 August 1996 and quickly became the country’s most watched station, laying the groundwork for the channel family it runs today.
- On 13 October 2020 the PPF group completed its purchase of media company CME, the owner of Markíza. The Slovak channels thereby passed to a new Czech owner with deeper pockets.
- On 6 June 2022 Markíza KRIMI launched as Markíza’s fourth channel. It offered detective and crime series non-stop in Full HD and already held around two percent of the all-day audience in its opening weeks.
- On 15 July 2024 Markíza expanded its line-up with the sister channel Markíza KLASIK. The crime station thus gained a companion and the group covered another slice of viewer tastes.
- In spring 2025 the Czech series Špecialisti became the most watched programme on Markíza KRIMI, reaching a 2.3 percent rating and a nine percent market share in March.
- By the end of 2025 the Markíza group, with channels including Markíza KRIMI, confirmed its position as the all-day market leader, averaging a 33.0 percent share among viewers aged 14 to 56.
- On 3 July 2026 Markíza KRIMI gave its Friday prime time to the premiere of the French crime series Balthazar, refreshing the summer schedule with more detective drama.
