- At Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger's request, France's first Catholic television channel went on air on 13 December 1999, starting on the Noos cable network in Paris.
- On Christmas Eve 1999 it joined the CANALSAT satellite package, broadcasting the Nativity celebration and the opening of the Holy Year 2000 jubilee live from the Vatican.
- Through the 2000s KTO grew into the reference religious broadcaster for the whole French-speaking world, reaching Belgium, Switzerland and francophone Africa by satellite and internet.
- On 4 September 2023 sister station KTO Radio launched on DAB+ digital radio with a national Arcom licence and its own morning show, sharing prayer broadcasts and big events with the TV channel.
- For its 25th anniversary KTO staged a special live evening from the Collège des Bernardins in Paris on 13 December 2024, a quarter-century after its first broadcast.
- In May 2025 KTO carried the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV's pontificate live with French commentary, one of its most-watched broadcasts of the year.
- Through the 2025 Jubilee year, which runs until 6 January 2026, the channel streamed jubilee audiences and major Roman liturgies live, including the audience of 8 November 2025.
