- Casa Editorial El Tiempo launched Citytv on UHF channel 21 in Bogotá on 19 March 1999, the capital’s first purely local station built around neighborhood news and citizen complaints.
- In September 2017 Citytv retired the video-sharing features of its old Citytv.com.co site and relaunched the domain as a straightforward Bogotá news portal.
- On 19 March 2024 Citytv marked its 25th anniversary, revisiting its role as Bogotá’s self-styled guardian angel with special broadcasts and archive retrospectives.
- On 3 April 2024 the broadcaster formally rolled out a refreshed logo, blending motifs from its 1999 and 2007 identities into a single anniversary mark.
- In April 2025 Citytv unveiled a full rebrand, overhauling its on-air look and moving its newscasts into a 16:9 widescreen format for the first time.
- In January 2026 Citytv joined an alliance of Casa Editorial El Tiempo with RCN and La FM that linked their signals for the first time to co-broadcast the debates ahead of Colombia's 2026 presidential election.
