Real leads the Champions League series 8 wins to 3, with one draw, and has won five of six games in Rome.
Where to watch AS Roma vs Real Madrid? In the US, the Champions League game streams live on Paramount+ on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with kickoff at 3 p.m. ET (noon PT). Fans in the UK and Ireland get an 8 p.m. start at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
There’s a storyline, too. José Mourinho, who won the Conference League with Roma in 2022, returns to the Olimpico as Real Madrid coach. His old club now leads Serie A and is still unbeaten in the league. His new one has won this competition 15 times.
One catch: streaming services check where you connect from. Travel abroad and the stream you pay for at home may not load. Below you’ll find who shows the game in each country and how to keep watching your own service on the road.
Where to watch AS Roma vs Real Madrid live
Here’s who carries the match in the main English-speaking markets, as of October 8, 2026.

Can you watch Roma vs Real Madrid for free?
Yes, but only in Switzerland. Swiss public broadcaster SRF shows the game live and free on SRF zwei from 8:10 p.m. to 11 p.m. local time, with a livestream on Play SRF. For French speakers, RTS 2 carries it from 8:10 p.m., streaming on Play RTS. It’s the free match of the round: SRF, RTS and RSI air one Champions League game per matchday at no cost this season, under a sublicense from rights holder blue Sport.
No other country has a confirmed free live broadcast. In the US, UK, Ireland, Canada and Australia you need a paid service. Right after the game, SRF zwei also shows free highlights of every match of the night, from 11 p.m. to 11:55 p.m.
The free option has a border. SRF Play streams live TV only inside Switzerland, and its online sports rights often cover Switzerland alone. That holds on vacation too, so a Swiss viewer on a trip loses the stream. Paid services work the same way: cross a border and the match may stop playing. That’s where a VPN helps.
How to watch Roma vs Real Madrid from abroad with a VPN
Streaming services read your IP address before they play anything. Open Paramount+ on a work trip to Italy, or TNT Sports from a hotel in Spain, and you may get an error instead of the match, even though you pay every month.
A VPN from our table gets you back in. Connect to a server in your home country, open your usual app and sign in. The service sees a home connection and plays the game. Your own subscription stays as it is; the VPN only changes your virtual location.

Kickoff, stadium and lineups: what we know
The game starts at 7 p.m. UTC on Wednesday, October 14, at the Stadio Olimpico. UEFA lists its capacity at 68,817, and the stadium opened in 1953. It’s a Matchday 2 fixture in the 2026/27 league phase.
Gian Piero Gasperini coaches Roma, and José Mourinho leads Real. UEFA hadn’t appointed a referee as of October 8. Clubs announce their lineups about an hour before kickoff.
Team news so far comes from Madrid. Real’s official site said on October 6 that Asencio, Mbappé, Mendy, Valverde and Rodrygo were continuing their recovery. Whether they’ll be available in Rome isn’t clear yet.
How the league phase works
All 36 teams share one table, and each plays eight games. The top 24 advance. After Matchday 1, Real sits 13th with 3 points and Roma 17th with 1. The final is on Saturday, June 5, 2027.
Head-to-head record and current form
The clubs have met 12 times in the Champions League. Real leads with 8 wins to Roma’s 3, plus one draw, and has outscored Roma 24 to 9. In Rome, Real has won five of its six visits.

The 2008 tie is still the only time Roma has knocked Real out. The last meeting, on November 27, 2018, ended in a 2 to 0 Real win at the Olimpico.
League form going into Matchday 2
Roma tops Serie A after five rounds with 13 points from four wins and a draw, level with Inter and Lazio. It has scored 14 and conceded 3: 4 to 0 against Fiorentina, 4 to 0 at Lecce, 2 to 1 against Atalanta, 2 to 0 at Torino and a 2 to 2 draw with Inter. In Europe, Roma opened with a 1 to 1 draw at Fenerbahçe, Cristante scoring in the 39th minute. Next up is a trip to Como on October 11.
Real is fourth in LaLiga after seven games with 15 points: five wins, two losses, 18 scored and 8 conceded, six points behind leader Barcelona. The last defeat came in the derby, a 2 to 1 loss at Atlético on September 20. In the Champions League opener, Mbappé and Valverde scored in a 2 to 1 win over Inter. Real hosts Villarreal on October 10.
Who will win? Our prediction
The facts first. Roma hasn’t lost a league game this season and is back in the Champions League after eight years away; it didn’t take part in 2025/26. Real has won 15 titles, the last in 2024 with a 2 to 0 win over Dortmund at Wembley. Last season it finished ninth in the league phase, beat Benfica in the knockout playoffs and Manchester City in the round of 16, then went out to Bayern in the quarterfinals.
Our pick is an editorial opinion, not a betting tip: a draw. Roma’s form and a full Olimpico should cancel out Real’s strong record in Rome, and the open questions over several Real players add doubt. A Real win would still surprise nobody.
Our pick for Paramount+ExpressVPNGreat for streaming
The Olimpico hosted Roma’s most painful European night. In the 1984 European Cup final, Roma played Liverpool in its own stadium, drew 1 to 1 and lost 4 to 2 on penalties.
Mourinho knows both dugouts. With Roma he won the Conference League final 1 to 0 against Feyenoord in Tirana on May 25, 2022. He had coached Real before, including a Champions League semifinal in 2013.
Roma’s 2008 double over Real, 2 to 1 at home and 2 to 1 at the Bernabéu, is the only time it has eliminated the Spanish club.
The schedule stays packed: Roma hosts Slovan Bratislava on October 20, Real welcomes Leipzig on October 21 and visits Barcelona for El Clásico at Camp Nou on October 25.
Champions League stream not working? What to do
Check the server country. Geoblocking is the usual cause, so connect to a server in the country of your service: the US for Paramount+, the UK for TNT Sports.
Switch servers. Still blocked? Pick another server in the same country and reload the page.
Clear the cache. Your browser or app may remember your real location. Clear cookies, open a private window or restart the app.
Check your account. A VPN doesn’t replace a paid plan. Paramount+, TNT Sports, DAZN and Stan Sport still need your own active subscription.
Test before kickoff. Try your setup a day early, not five minutes before the whistle on Wednesday.
