- ProSiebenSat.1 launches the satellite news channel N24, the direct predecessor of the channel. It runs rolling news and aims squarely at the private news market in Germany from day one.
- The publisher Axel Springer buys N24 and pulls it out of the ProSiebenSat.1 group. The acquisition ties the channel to the newsroom of the Die Welt newspaper and sets up the later rebrand.
- Axel Springer merges the TV and print operations into the newly founded WeltN24 GmbH. The channel, the website and the Welt newspaper now sit under a single roof.
- After eighteen years the N24 name disappears. The channel rebrands to WELT, aligning the WELT TV name with the newspaper and the sister documentary channel N24 Doku.
- WELT reshapes its schedule: fewer rolling bulletins at the weekend, more sport and longer reports. The WELT annual market share climbs to 1.2 percent.
- The brand marks 25 years since the first broadcast of the former N24. The anniversary highlights the path from a satellite channel to the most-watched private news outlet in Germany.
- On the day Friedrich Merz is elected chancellor WELT sets a record: a daily market share of 3.0 percent, the highest of the year for WELT. Politically charged days are its strongest.
- WELT closes a record year: for the first time in over three years it beats rival n-tv on a monthly basis. The WELT annual share rises to 1.5 percent, and 2.0 percent together with N24 Doku.
