How to Watch TarangPlus from Anywhere: VPN Guide 2026
“Are you living outside Odisha and missing out on Superhit Odia Jatras?” That question from the App Store and Google Play listings speaks to Odia viewers outside the state. Before you watch TarangPlus abroad, read section 18 of the terms of use. It says the service is available in select countries only, limited by the licensing rights granted to Odisha Television Limited, without listing them.
You buy your subscription where you live, and the US App Store sells the annual plan in dollars. The terms don’t say whether anything changes when you travel. A VPN like Surfshark with a US server puts your virtual location back in the country where you use and pay for the service. It doesn’t buy or unlock anything, and the bill is still yours. Note that the terms explicitly prohibit using a VPN or proxy to access content from territories where the operator lacks rights. Inside the app: Tarang TV serials, movies, music, devotional shows and, according to the operator, Odisha Television’s live channels.

Quick answer
Does TarangPlus work abroad?
Only in select countries, according to the terms of use, and the operator doesn’t say which ones. The limit comes from the content licensing rights granted to Odisha Television Limited. The US App Store does sell the annual subscription. To keep your virtual location in the US on a trip, connect Surfshark or another VPN to a US server before you open the app. You still pay for your own subscription.

How-to
How to Unblock TarangPlus with a VPN
Takes about 2 minutes. Works on your phone, tablet, TV, PC, or laptop.
- Pick a VPN with US serversYou pay for your subscription in the US, so a US server is what you need. Right now we recommend Surfshark, from $1.78 a month.Set up the VPN and test it at home. Troubleshooting on airport Wi-Fi is nobody’s idea of fun.
- Connect to a US serverChoose a US location in the VPN app and wait until you’re connected. Only then launch the app or go to tarangplus.in. On a TV, the VPN needs to run on the streaming device itself, such as a Fire TV, or on your router.
- Open TarangPlus and sign inSign in with the same account you pay with. If you subscribed in the iPhone app, the charge went to your Apple account, and that’s also where you manage the subscription.
- Set quality and subtitlesAccording to the plans page, a subscription gets you HD, though quality may drop on a weak connection. The app listing mentions an option to choose video quality and subtitles. For the big screen, there are apps for Android TV and Fire TV.

Steer clear of free VPNs. Most of them actually collect and sell your data, lack proper security audits, and can even expose you to malware. They’re also useless for streaming. Platforms block them instantly, leaving you with more headaches than solutions. Stick to paid VPNs with verified audits, like Surfshark, if you want something that actually works.

About the platform
Who’s behind the service?
What is TarangPlus
TarangPlus is an Odia streaming service launched in 2019 by the Odisha Television group and run by Odisha Television Limited in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It offers serials and shows from the Tarang TV channel, movies, original web series, jatra folk theater, music, devotional programs, and news. According to the operator, it also carries live streams of OTV, Tarang TV, Alankar TV, Prarthana TV, and Tarang Music. Some content is free with ads. A monthly or annual subscription gives you full access that the plans page calls ad-free, and an annual plan for live channels is also available, though under the terms it may not include on-demand content. You can watch on iPhone and iPad, Android phones and tablets, a standalone Android TV app, Fire TV, and the web. The terms of use limit TarangPlus to select countries based on licensing rights and explicitly prohibit using a VPN or proxy to access it from territories where the operator lacks rights.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before subscribing to TarangPlus.
On the US App Store, a TarangPlus subscription costs $24.99 a year. The charge goes to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase, and you can turn off auto-renewal in your Apple account settings. It’s a separate subscription, like any other service you may already pay for at home, such as Hulu.
Part of what TarangPlus offers is free with ads. The terms of use in effect since April 15, 2026, list three plans with prices in India, before tax: the Monthly Plan at ₹49, billed every 30 days, and the Annual Full Premium Plan at ₹365 for 365 days, both with live TV and, per the plans page, completely ad-free. The Annual Live Channels Plan, ₹150 for 365 days, covers live channels only, and on-demand content may not be included.
Section 18, on international use, explicitly prohibits using a VPN or proxy to access content from territories where Odisha Television Limited doesn’t have rights or doesn’t offer the service. Section 10 repeats the ban in its list of prohibited activities. The terms say nothing about detecting VPNs or about any specific penalty. Whether you use one on a trip is up to you.
You are, under the terms. They make you solely liable for using the service in the country where you are, and Odisha Television Limited isn’t responsible for access problems caused by a change in your location. A VPN like Surfshark with a US server only moves your virtual location back home, and the terms prohibit using one to access the service from territories where the operator lacks rights. Your subscription is still on you.
To cancel, sign in to TarangPlus, go to Account Settings, open Manage Subscription and choose Cancel Subscription. If you subscribed through the App Store, Apple bills you, and you manage the subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Apple account settings. The terms call all fees nonrefundable, with exceptions for a double charge, a wrong amount or a full outage of more than 72 hours caused by the operator, if you ask within 7 days. They set no separate rule for App Store purchases.
TarangPlus names five channels from its own group on the plans page and in the app listing: the news channel Odisha TV (OTV), Tarang TV, Alankar TV, the devotional channel Prarthana TV and Tarang Music. Under the terms, live TV is part of both the monthly and annual full-access plans, and there’s also an annual plan just for live channels.
Odia serials, including Tarang TV shows named in the app listing, such as Durga, Kalijai, Kunwari Bohu and Savitri. There are also movies, jatra (traditional folk theater), music and music videos, comedy, morning bhajans and other devotional shows, news and original web series. In August 2026, the Odia movie Bara Badhu arrived as an exclusive after its theatrical run.
No. Tarang TV is an entertainment TV channel, while TarangPlus is a streaming service from the same group, Odisha Television Network. According to the operator, the service carries the channel’s live feed and serials, along with movies, music and other channels from the group, such as the news channel OTV. It’s run by Odisha Television Limited, based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
iPhone and iPad through the App Store, Android phones and tablets through Google Play, a separate TarangPlus app for Android TV and a Fire TV version on the Amazon Appstore. You can also watch in a browser at tarangplus.in. The number of devices streaming at once may be limited, but neither the terms nor the official FAQ gives a number.
