Super Channel+ is the streaming arm of Super Channel, the premium network run by Edmonton-based Allarco Entertainment 2008 Inc., and it works in Canada only. It landed on Roku in September 2023 as a pure on-demand library: movies, series and documentaries drawn from the Fuse, Heart & Home, Vault and Quest brands, all commercial-free and uncut. The live channels stay with cable operators rather than the app, which you can open on phones, browsers, smart TVs and streaming boxes. Allarco switched on Super Channel as a national pay TV network, starting distribution through Bell Satellite TV eighteen months after the CRTC approved the licence for a single new entrant.
Allarco filed for creditor protection under the CCAA after cable distributors proved slow to carry the channel. The restructuring ran until the summer of 2010 and the network stayed on air throughout.
A second creditor protection filing followed. Allarco terminated dozens of programming licence agreements, cutting roughly 1.5 million dollars in commitments, while all four channels stayed on the air.
The multiplex numbering went away. SC3 became Super Channel Vault and a week later GINX Esports TV Canada replaced SC4, while the remaining pair was renamed Fuse and Heart & Home in 2018.
Super Channel+ arrived as a standalone app for iPhone and iPad. It pulls the library from all four channels, strictly on demand, with no live feeds attached and Canadian billing addresses only.
Roku players joined the line-up. Allarco framed the move as expanding its reach rather than a launch: the library stayed the same, but Super Channel+ finally reached the living room television.
GINX Esports TV Canada became Super Channel Quest, swapping esports for documentaries about history, medicine and unexplained phenomena. The new slate feeds straight into the Super Channel+ catalog as well.
The original documentary TOOTOO premiered on Super Channel Fuse, tracing Jordin Tootoo, the first Inuk player in the NHL, through stardom and addiction. It belongs to the slate Super Channel+ draws its library from.
Super Channel commissioned RCMP Files, twenty hour long episodes from Farpoint Films shot with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Winnipeg. Season one is slated for 2027 on Super Channel+ too.
Ancient Bodies: Secrets Revealed returned for a second season, launching with two back-to-back episodes on a Monday night. The run reaches Super Channel+ the same way the rest of the slate does, after broadcast.
