Its lineup leans into crime and true-crime series, popular American shows, reality, cooking and lifestyle. - ProSiebenSat.1 announced a new channel aimed at women, still under the working name Fem-TV. The move kicked off the project that viewers know today.
- The working title Fem-TV was dropped and the station got the name sixx. It was meant to signal the sixth button on the remote, next to Das Erste, ZDF and ProSieben.
- The channel went on air unencrypted and free of charge. From day one the schedule leaned on US series such as Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy and Damages, aimed mainly at women.
- ProSiebenSat.1 launched the Joyn streaming service, into which sixx moved its live channel and catch-up library. Viewers could now watch the shows free online without a classic TV set.
- Competition from streaming services pulled linear audiences down. The channel’s overall share slipped to roughly 1.0 percent, down 0.4 points year on year, while it held around 1.3 percent in the 14 to 49 target group.
- Through 2025 sixx clawed back from its weakest spell, lifting its share among women 14 to 49 by 0.2 points to 1.7 percent, after flirting with a drop below one percent the year before.
- ProSiebenSat.1 announced that Grey’s Anatomy season 22 would move from ProSieben to sixx. After weaker ratings on the bigger channel, the medical saga got a new home in double episodes.
- Grey’s Anatomy opened its 22nd season in a free-TV premiere on sixx with a double episode at 8.15 pm. A week earlier, the Joyn streaming service had offered the new episode for free.
