Watch MagentaSport from outside Germany in 2026
Back in 2014, Deutsche Telekom had a clear idea: build a sports streamer with no lifestyle shows, no drama filler, just live sport. That became MagentaSport, a pure-play OTT service locked to Germany that today broadcasts every 3. Liga match, the full PENNY DEL ice hockey season, EuroLeague and EuroCup basketball, and all 104 FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, with 44 of them airing exclusively on the platform. No ARD, no ZDF, no other option. From the US, however, the geo-block fires up the moment you load the site. Watching MagentaSport in the US requires routing your traffic through Germany first.
That is exactly what a reliable VPN does. Connect Surfshark to a German server and the platform registers a familiar IP, granting access to your subscription. Every live broadcast then comes through in up to HD, whether you are watching a midweek 3. Liga clash or a World Cup quarterfinal that never makes it to free-to-air TV.

Company and history
- MagentaSport launched in September 2014 as Telekom Sport, Deutsche Telekom's first dedicated sports streamer, initially covering the Basketball Bundesliga and the 3. Football Liga.
- In January 2019 Telekom rebranded the service as MagentaSport. The new name brought a modernised interface and a programming line-up exceeding 5,000 hours of live sport per year, including the full PENNY DEL.
- Telekom secured exclusive broadcast rights to every 3. Liga and FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga match. MagentaSport became the sole destination for watching both competitions live.
- Telekom extended its EuroLeague Basketball deal, securing Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and BKT EuroCup on MagentaSport through the 2025/26 season. The partnership, begun in 2015, was entering its seventh year.
- MagentaSport marked ten years in September 2024. Telekom opened selected live broadcasts free and without login to showcase the breadth of the service to new viewers.
- In January 2025 Telekom and Euroleague Basketball announced a further three-season extension. Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and BKT EuroCup will remain on MagentaSport through the 2028/29 season.
- Telekom raised MagentaSport subscription prices. Non-Telekom customers now pay €19.95 per month; Telekom customers pay €14.95. Annual plans stayed the better-value option at €14.95 and €9.95 per month respectively.
- From 11 June 2026 MagentaSport airs all 104 FIFA World Cup matches in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Forty-four of them are exclusive, unavailable on ARD or ZDF.

- Lock in the annual plan at 9.95 €/month (Telekom customers) instead of the monthly rate and save over 60 € a year.
- MagentaSport is geo-blocked outside Germany, but connecting through Surfshark on a German server lets you keep watching from anywhere.
- True 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos requires the MagentaTV Stick or One Box, as the smart TV app caps out at HD.
- No Telekom contract? The Flex plan has no minimum term, so you can subscribe just for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and cancel after.
- Selected EuroLeague games stream free every week without a subscription, making it a low-stakes way to try the platform before paying.
