When we read the site’s code from a Czech IP on September 23, 2026, the live La7 page had no geo block set. We didn’t play anything, and individual shows may differ. Everything is free and supported by ads that run before and during videos. News and current affairs are its core: TG La7, Otto e Mezzo, Propaganda Live, and Omnibus. La7 Cinema adds movies, both live and on demand. The free app runs on iOS, Android, Android TV, Samsung and LG smart TVs, Hisense VIDAA, Amazon Fire TV Stick, and HbbTV. Live streams play in 720p. Cairo has also announced a new platform called La7 Play, with its own app, for fall 2026. The network publishes no rules for viewers abroad, so the player settings on la7.it decide. Based on those settings, live La7 and on-demand shows can be watched outside Italy, though this may vary for individual shows. The La7 Cinema channel and its movies are blocked outside Italy.

Major changes
- Urbano Cairo’s Cairo Communication takes over the entire La7 company from Telecom Italia Media, with effect from April 30, 2013, and becomes the network’s owner.
- La7 releases an app for Xbox One and, in its press release, recalls that back in 2009 it was the first Italian broadcaster to launch catch-up TV on the web.
- The current La7 app for iPhone and iPad goes live on the App Store. It is the same free La7 app you download from the store today.
- The movie channel La7 Cinema replaces La7d on channel 29. Today its live feed and on-demand films are the part of the site that is blocked outside Italy.
- Presenting its 2026/27 season, La7 announces La7 Play, a new platform and app for fall 2026, and the series “M. Il figlio del secolo” via a deal with Sky. La7 Play is not live as of September 23, 2026.

That limit is built into the player on la7.it. Without signing in, live TV runs for 4 minutes, then the player stops and asks you to log in to a La7 account. Once you’re signed in, the stream carries on. It applies to the live pages; catch-up episodes on rivedila7 work differently.
Because La7 blocks them outside Italy. The live La7 Cinema channel has had a geo block in its player settings since July 22, 2026, and every on-demand film we checked (three of three) was flagged the same way. Instead of the movie, you get an image reading “Questo video non è disponibile nel tuo paese / This video is not available in your country.”
Mainly for La7 Cinema, on-demand movies and any show that has its own geo block. A VPN with an Italian server, such as Surfshark, changes your virtual location, so La7 sees you as a viewer in Italy, and it stays free. For news and talk shows you mostly won’t need it, based on the player settings.

The rivedila7 section on La7 keeps the last 7 days. You’ll find TG La7, Omnibus, Coffee Break, L’Aria che tira, Tagadà, Otto e Mezzo and Propaganda Live, plus La7 Originals digital specials such as the series House of Trump, and La Torre di Babele Doc. In a sample of TG La7, L’Aria che tira, Tagadà and Ignoto X, the geo block was switched off.
La7 Play is a new digital platform with a new app that Urbano Cairo announced in July 2026 for the fall, with a presentation promised for October or November. As of September 23, 2026, it hasn’t launched, and la7.it/la7play returns a 404. Until then, the current la7.it site and La7 app are how you watch.
La7d is gone. On October 1, 2025, the movie channel La7 Cinema took over its slot on channel 29. If an older guide sends you looking for La7d, you want La7 Cinema instead, which is also the part of the La7 lineup that’s blocked outside Italy, both live and on demand.
La7 S.p.A., based in Rome, is part of Cairo Communication, the group chaired by Urbano Cairo. Cairo took over the company from Telecom Italia Media with effect from April 30, 2013. The group runs two TV channels, La7 and La7 Cinema, plus la7.it and the La7 app, where everything streams free with ads.
According to Cairo Communication’s half-year report, the digital side averaged 222,000 unique users a day between January and June 2026, with 11.6 million stream views a month. Those are the publisher’s own figures. They give a sense of how large the audience on the web and in the app has become.
