What is TVA+
TVA+ is the free streaming service of Groupe TVA, the Montreal broadcaster owned by Québecor, and it works inside Canada only. Advertising pays for the whole catalogue, and signing in is optional: an account only adds a watchlist and a resume point. What you get is French-language Québec television, from drama series, comedies and travel, cooking or home renovation shows to films across every genre, documentaries, variety, stand-up, newscasts and live events. You can watch on the web, mobile, Apple TV, Google TV, Fire TV and Roku, in up to 1080p, though without offline downloads.

Major changes
- Groupe TVA replaced the streaming section of tva.ca with TVA+, unveiling a new logo and the slogan “TVA, on se reconnaît” at the same time. Live streams, catch-up and full seasons finally sat at one free address.
- TVA Sports Direct moved under the TVA+ roof with a redesigned interface and new packages, putting a paid sports subscription right next to the free catalog on a single site.
- Groupe TVA cut 547 jobs, 31 percent of its workforce, ended in-house entertainment production and rebuilt its newsroom. The shrinking ad market thinned what TVA+ could put on its shelves.
- TVA+ and TVA Sports Direct arrived on Roku. The launch release counted close to a hundred films and series in a catalog that already ran on Apple TV, Android TV and Amazon Fire TV.
- Indéfendable returned for a fourth season on air and on TVA+ the same evening. Numeris counted 1,415,000 viewers for that premiere in the week of 8 September 2025, the biggest number in the catalog.
- TVA Sports Direct became a Prime Video channel in Canada, so the paid hockey package no longer sold only through TVA+. The free, ad-funded catalog was untouched by the deal.
- TVA Sports held on to the national French-language NHL rights: from 2026-27 it carries 32 Canadiens games and the playoffs, Prime Video seven, RDS the regional dates. On TVA+, hockey stays inside the paid TVA Sports Direct package.
- Groupe TVA swung back to profit, posting 13.2 million CAD of net income on 143.3 million CAD in quarterly revenue after the Canadiens playoff run. Advertising inside those revenues is what pays for the free TVA+ catalog.

Different broadcaster, different language. CBC Gem is the public English service, while TVA+ carries the commercial French network from Montreal, and Radio-Canada runs ICI Tou.tv on the French public side. All three are Canada only, so one Canadian server covers the group. Keep in mind that the interface and the shows here are French, with no English audio track waiting in the settings.
Usually not. Free apps ship a handful of crowded servers, a Canadian exit is rarely among them, and the data cap dies after two episodes. Streaming services also catalogued those IP ranges long ago.
