When Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed its 2025 plan to break into two companies, plenty of people assumed Discovery+ would fold into HBO Max and vanish. It did not. HBO Max goes to the Warner Bros. studio side, while Discovery+ stays on under the new Discovery Global networks company and keeps turning a profit, carrying the full archive of Discovery, TLC, ID, HGTV and Food Network. Across much of Europe it also pipes in live Eurosport. Watching Discovery+ abroad runs into one wall, though: licensing. Cross a border and the catalogue either swaps out or goes dark.
