How to Watch Discover Sport outside South Africa: VPN Guide 2026
Africa Netball qualifiers, the SA Climbing Nationals and golf from the Sunshine Tour rarely make a TV schedule in Europe or the US, yet as of September 2026 they all stream live or sit on the schedule of one free, ad-supported app. Watching Discover Sport outside South Africa comes with one quirk: there is no country-wide geoblock, but every creator can pick the countries each video plays in. Athletes, clubs and federations upload their own clips here, so the rules can change from one video to the next.
The catalog counts over 9,300 public videos and close to 7,000 channels, plus PADELTIME TV, a nonstop padel channel whose program guide runs from PPL finals to the 2026 Hexagon Cup. You can watch without signing up, because ads pay for everything. Connect ExpressVPN to a South African server and your virtual location switches to South Africa, so you also see the videos and streams reserved for South Africa. Replays go up to 1080p in your browser or on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Quick answer
Can you watch Discover Sport outside South Africa?
Yes. When we tested from Europe in September 2026, the website and catalog opened with no region message, the service is free with ads, and you do not need an account to watch. The catch sits elsewhere: a creator or rights holder can limit a single video or live stream to certain countries, such as South Africa. ExpressVPN on a South African server takes care of that, so those matches play for you too.

Steer clear of free VPNs. Most of them actually collect and sell your data, lack proper security audits, and can even expose you to malware. They’re also useless for streaming. Platforms block them instantly, leaving you with more headaches than solutions. Stick to paid VPNs with verified audits, like ExpressVPN, if you want something that actually works.
About the platform
Who’s behind the service?
What is Discover Sport
Discover Sport is a free South African platform that works as a social network built purely around sport. Athletes, clubs and federations upload their own videos and live streams, alongside competition broadcasts and the round-the-clock PADELTIME TV channel. It’s operated by Discover Sport (Pty) Ltd in Kyalami, Gauteng, founded by Stephen Watson. As of September 2026 it hosts more than 9,300 public videos and nearly 7,000 channels, from Africa Netball qualifiers to Sunshine Tour golf and EFC MMA. Everything is free and ad-supported, with no subscription or in-app purchases. You can watch without signing up; an account is only needed to upload or go live, and creators earn 40 to 56 percent of net ad revenue. Recordings go up to Full HD, and the interface is in English. Use it on the web, which installs on your phone like an app, or on iPhone, iPad and Android. Creators can choose country by country where each video plays. With a VPN server in South Africa, those videos open too, just like at home.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before you start watching Discover Sport.
Because every creator can choose the countries a video plays in, and for South African events that list may be South Africa alone. Connect ExpressVPN to a South African server and your virtual location switches to South Africa, so on Discover Sport you also see the videos and streams reserved for South Africa, club games and federation broadcasts included.
No. Discover Sport is free and paid for by ads, which both the App Store and Google Play list. There is no subscription, no pay-per-view and no in-app purchase. A VPN is a separate service you subscribe to on its own, while watching the sport itself costs you nothing at all.
Not to watch. Live streams, replays and club channels all play without signing up; just open the Discover Sport website or app. You only need an account, with a username and email, if you want to upload your own videos or go live yourself, for example to stream your club’s games.
The Discover Sport website lets you choose from more than 100 sports. As of September 2026, the live and upcoming lineup included Africa Netball qualifiers, the SA Climbing Nationals, SA Badminton, Sunshine Tour golf and the FEI Jumping World Cup. Around those events sit thousands of videos uploaded by athletes, clubs and federations themselves.
A nonstop padel channel with its own program guide, running right inside the app. It airs PPL finals, the 2026 Hexagon Cup, WPT matches and padel documentaries. It grew out of the Padel Time TV partnership launched in March 2026, which brought more than 500 hours of padel to the platform. With ExpressVPN you tune in from anywhere just as you would in Johannesburg.
Yes, the platform has partnered with South African MMA league EFC since November 2025. According to EFC’s announcement, its big fight nights are free for viewers outside sub-Saharan Africa, with selected prelims available everywhere. So you watch EFC fight nights straight from wherever you are, in Europe or the US, without switching to a South African server. A South African server on ExpressVPN comes in handy for the videos and streams reserved for South Africa.
You can watch in a web browser, which you can also install on your phone as an app, and in the apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. Replays run in up to 1080p. Install ExpressVPN on your phone and laptop alike, and you keep a South African location on every screen you watch on.
DAZN is a go-to for major sports, and the two sit side by side rather than compete. Discover Sport focuses on South African competitions and smaller sports that clubs, federations and athletes upload themselves, from netball to padel. If you follow the scene back home, it makes sense to keep both, and ExpressVPN covers the videos limited to South Africa.
Yes, once you create an account with a username and email. You can then upload videos and go live, say for your club’s tournament, and set the countries each video plays in. According to the help pages, creators get 40 to 56% of the net ad revenue earned on their videos. Think social network rather than a traditional TV channel.
It is a creator setting. Whoever owns a video can pick the countries where it plays, using ready-made geoblocking presets. That is why most of the catalog may open for you while one particular match stays hidden. Connect ExpressVPN to a South African server and that match plays like everything else.
