How to Watch Binge from Anywhere: VPN Guide 2026
Binge is Australia’s flagship paid entertainment streamer, and after a major 2026 overhaul it is the country’s one-stop app for drama, reality, lifestyle and live news. Owned by Foxtel under sports giant DAZN, it leans on prestige drama like the final seasons of Outlander and the new Tip Toe from the It’s a Sin team, reality led by The Real Housewives, and homegrown originals such as Colin from Accounts and The Twelve. Add dozens of live channels and films in up to 4K. The subscription comes in tiers, from a cheaper ad-supported plan to an ad-free option on four screens.
The catch is rights: the library is licensed for Australia only, so the moment you travel abroad the app blocks playback. Watching Binge from anywhere comes down to one workaround. That workaround is a VPN. It routes your connection through an Australian server, gives you a local IP and convinces Binge you never left Sydney. With NordVPN you keep the drama, reality and films in up to 4K, whether you are away for a week or living abroad.

Quick answer
Can you watch Binge while travelling abroad?
Yes, with a VPN. Binge is licensed for Australia only, so the moment you travel abroad it stops playing. Connect NordVPN to a server in Australia, refresh the app and sign in to your Binge account, and the drama, reality and films come back in up to 4K, just as they do at home. Your existing subscription works as normal; the VPN simply restores your Australian location.

How-to
How to Unblock Binge with a VPN
Takes about 2 minutes. Works on your phone, tablet, TV, PC, or laptop.
1
Choose a reliable VPN
Pick a service with fast Australian servers like NordVPN, from $2.99. Free VPNs are throttled, and Binge rejects many of their address ranges.
A 30-day money-back guarantee lets you test it risk-free.
2
Connect to an Australian server
Open the VPN app and connect to a server in Australia, ideally in Sydney or Melbourne. Wait for the connection to confirm so you hold a local IP.
A nearby city server means lower latency for the live channels.
3
Sign in to Binge
Launch the Binge app or binge.com.au and sign in to your account. If the line-up still looks trimmed, clear cookies so the old location is forgotten.
A new account and payment only work with an Australian card or PayPal.
4
Press play
Jump into drama, reality or films and stream in up to 4K. You only see ads on the cheapest tier.
Reconnect to the same server if playback stalls.

⚠️
Steer clear of free VPNs. Most of them actually collect and sell your data, lack proper security audits, and can even expose you to malware. They’re also useless for streaming. Platforms block them instantly, leaving you with more headaches than solutions. Stick to paid VPNs with verified audits, like NordVPN, if you want something that actually works.

Company and history
Major changes
Foxtel launched Binge on 25 May 2020 as its modern streaming service built around drama, films and reality, kept separate from the traditional cable line-up.
In 2024 Foxtel launched Hubbl, a set-top box that brings streaming apps including Binge together and makes subscribing and switching between services easier.
When Max launched in Australia in March 2025, the entire HBO and Warner Bros. library left Binge, taking titles like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon and The Last of Us.
Global sports streamer DAZN took over the Foxtel Group, and in May 2025 Hilary Perchard became the new chief executive of Foxtel, Kayo and Binge.
In early 2026 Foxtel shut down its separate FLASH and LifeStyle services and folded them into Binge, turning it into the single app for entertainment, lifestyle and live news.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before subscribing to Binge.
No, Binge is a paid service with tiered plans, from a cheaper ad-supported option to a pricier ad-free tier on four screens. From abroad you also need an Australian card or PayPal to subscribe. Connect NordVPN to an Australian server first, or the content will not load because of licensing.
Binge holds broadcast rights for Australia only, so from elsewhere the app blocks playback and reports the content as unavailable. Connect NordVPN to a server in Australia, refresh the app and you get the full line-up like a local viewer. Use a proper VPN with an Australian IP, since Binge detects most cheap proxies.
For a new subscription, yes. Binge mainly accepts Australian cards and PayPal, so a VPN alone fixes only your location, not billing. If you already hold an account from your time in Australia, just connect NordVPN to an Australian server and sign in, and billing carries on as before.
The draws are prestige drama like the final seasons of Outlander and the new Tip Toe, reality led by The Real Housewives, and homegrown originals such as Colin from Accounts and The Twelve, plus films and live channels. The 2026 revamp added lifestyle and news. From abroad NordVPN with an Australian IP unlocks the whole library.
After Max launched in Australia in 2025, HBO and Warner titles like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon and The Last of Us moved to Max and are no longer on Binge. Binge now leans on its own drama, reality and live channels. Both services are geo-locked, so from abroad you need NordVPN on an Australian server.
Only on the cheapest tier. The Basic with Ads plan carries ad breaks across shows, while the pricier Standard and Premium tiers are ad-free and add higher resolution plus more simultaneous screens. From abroad NordVPN connected to an Australian server unlocks either of them.
Most content runs in up to 4K with HDR support, though the top quality is reserved for the pricier ad-free tiers. The cheapest plan streams in HD with ad breaks. For smooth playback through NordVPN, a stable line of around twenty-five megabits helps, especially for the 4K picture.
Both belong to Foxtel, but Binge is a modern streamer on a single subscription where even the cheapest tier sees everything. Foxtel Now works more like classic cable, with channel packs and sport at extra cost. From abroad you need NordVPN on an Australian server for either one.
Using a VPN is legal in Australia and across most of the world, and watching a service you pay for through one is not a crime. You should still respect the Binge terms, written for Australian viewers. With NordVPN this is an ordinary private connection that also shields you on public networks.
Binge is run by Australia’s Foxtel Group, which global sports streamer DAZN took over in 2025. Hilary Perchard is the chief executive of Foxtel, Kayo and Binge. You watch the Australian service from abroad through NordVPN connected to a server in Australia, just like a local viewer.
