How to Watch AFA Play from Anywhere: VPN Guide 2026
The Argentine Football Association launched AFA Play back in 2019, first as an official video archive of highlights, documentaries and national-team footage; the live Liga Profesional feed for fans abroad arrived later through Fanatiz. So the platform now has two sides: a deep archive on one, the live league and the Copa de la Liga on the other. You can flip the audio between Spanish, English or the raw stadium feed. The archive and highlights are free after sign-up, while the live league is paid. Your AFA Play subscription travels with you across more than 192 countries, yet it hits a wall where the football is played.
Inside Argentina and Brazil the domestic rights take over, so the service there shows highlights only. Land in Buenos Aires with a plan you bought in the US, and the live stream simply goes dark. The fix is NordVPN: connect to a server in your home country where the service works normally, and the broadcast returns in HD just like at home.

Who’s behind the service?
What is AFA Play
AFA Play is the official streaming home of Argentine football for fans living outside Argentina. The rights belong to the Argentine football association AFA itself, the platform is run technically by Fanatiz in Chile, and the international commercial side is handled by AFD out of Miami. It launched in 2019 (first as afaplay.com, now afaplay.tv), and its backbone is live and on demand coverage of every match in the top flight, the Liga Profesional, which adds up to more than five hundred games a season. On top of that you get the Copa de la Liga, a deep national team archive, documentaries and interviews. It works on the web and through apps for iOS, Android, Apple TV and Chromecast, though the mobile app ratings are fairly modest. You can pay monthly or yearly, and a freemium layer puts the archive and highlights behind a free registration while the live league sits on the paid side. One detail worth remembering: AFA Play reaches more than 190 countries, but it is geo blocked inside Argentina and Brazil, where the domestic rights belong to TNT Sports and ESPN Premium. Do not confuse it with the free domestic LPF Play.

Company and history
- In December 2019 the Argentine Football Association launched AFA Play on afaplay.com as its official video service, gathering highlights, documentaries and a national-team archive for fans at home and abroad.
- In the second half of 2020 Fanatiz began carrying every Liga Profesional fixture live and on demand abroad through AFA Play, turning the video archive into a full live-league service for fans outside Argentina.
- The service moved to the afaplay.tv domain, shipped a redesigned app, and added an audio toggle between Spanish, English and the raw stadium feed so international viewers could pick their commentary.
- In January 2025 a new season kicked off on AFA Play with the Apertura and Clausura format back in place, giving overseas viewers two separate competitions live, each with its own playoffs and final.
- In May 2025 the Apertura climaxed with a first-ever title for Platense, and AFA Play carried the final live to viewers worldwide, outside the Argentine and Brazilian blackout zones.
- In December 2025 Estudiantes de La Plata took the Clausura. At home the final aired on ESPN Premium and TNT Sports, while AFA Play was the platform carrying it live to viewers abroad.

Tips & tricks you should know
5 tips from our AFA Play testing team · Updated July 13, 2026
- Pick your audio in the player: AFA Play lets you switch between Spanish commentary, English commentary or pure stadium ambience on every match.
- Watching beyond a few months? Take the annual plan at USD 71.90 instead of USD 7.99 monthly and save roughly a quarter.
- Before you pay, register for free and browse the freemium tier: highlights, condensed classic replays and documentaries are open without a subscription.
- Got a smart TV? AFA Play runs on Apple TV, Android TV, Roku and Chromecast, so the Liga Profesional plays on the big screen without a laptop.
- Mind the inverse blackout: AFA Play is geo-blocked inside Argentina and Brazil, so if you travel there keep access with NordVPN on a US or European server.
